Carpenter constructs, maintains, and remodels buildings or related structures. Installs, fixes, or modifies all aspects of a building, including walls, ceilings, floors, and stairs, as well as related structures like railings, doors, windows, and air conditioning systems. Being a Carpenter follows blueprints and plans to ensure requirements and specifications are met. Observes all worksite safety procedures and guidelines. Additionally, Carpenter inspects buildings to determine repair that needs to be done. An apprenticeship and/or formal training may be required. Typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Carpenter works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. · Complete rough carpentry work, site logistical work, fencing, deck and platform building, protection systems, construction waste areas, and jobsite cleanup.
· Shape or cut materials to specified measurements.
· Erect scaffolding and ladders, as needed.
· Install structures and fixtures including but not limited to windows, frames, floorings, trim, and hardware.
· Review jobsite needs with superintendents and foremen, and coordinates construction.
· Estimate, inventory, monitor, and request time, staff, materials, and equipment needed to complete work.
· Operate equipment such as forklifts, backhoe, skid steer, excavator, compactor, and construction hoist.
· Assist with the overall site safety and quality programs as required (including daily participation in Pre-Task Plans) and ensure Trade employees/subcontractors compliance with Turner standards and all applicable safety codes, regulations, and jobsite security.
· Inspect all tools and power tools before use to ensure they are in safe and working condition.
· Comply with written safety instructions from tool and equipment manufacturers.
· Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees.
· Ability to travel and accommodate night and weekend work as needed.
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
· Display a high level of teamwork, integrity, commitment, and leadership in daily operations.
· Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.
