    URM Stores, Inc. is looking for a talented Grocery Category Analyst to join our ever-growing team. Reporting to the Category Manager, the Category Analyst is responsible for analyzing specific categories to maintain the most competitive and profitable item mix for our Member Owners. You will leverage different sets of data, to help come up with actionable insights, that will directly impact the items we carry in our warehouse. These same insights will be used to come up with merchandising recommendations that our retail merchandising team will use when they are in our grocery stores.   


    Essential Job Functions:

    • Analyze sales data and market data to come up with merchandising recommendations.
    • Create schematics for specific categories for our merchandising teams to use (training will be provided on schematic software).
    • Track and manage assorted ledgers as needed for accruals and spend accounts.
    • Assist the Category Managers with projects as needed.
    • Communicate with vendors on all new item documentation and verify information is complete and accurate.  
    • Create, manipulate, and correct new and discontinued items, and group/subgroup issues.
    • Collaborate with the Procurement Department regularly, confirming all products are established and marked appropriately. 
    • Monitor price and promotional changes from vendors and competition.
    • Will require local travel to collect information from Retail Stores and Competition.
    • Edit schematics as needed based on specific requests from our members.
    • Work with vendors to make sure promotions have been submitted for new items.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Position Qualifications/Education:

    • Experience with SAP Business Objects BI reporting, space planning software and AS400 preferred.
    • 2 plus years of previous analyst experience preferred.
    • Strong math, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
    • Experience in Merchandising in the grocery industry; a combination of education and experience will be considered.
    • Strong knowledge of the fundamental concepts and processes to support schematic development, assortment management, and retail implementation.
    • Efficiently handle competing priorities and tasks, remain organized and meet deadlines.
    • Successfully develop and maintain productive relationships with functional leaders as well as colleagues and stakeholders.
    • Proven ability to plan, organize, multi-task, set priorities effectively and efficiently to proactively respond to changing demands.
