Certified Medication Technician administers prescribed medications to patients and maintains related medical records under immediate supervision. Administers medications using proper dosage, route, timing, and techniques. Being a Certified Medication Technician verifies the identity of the patient receiving medication. Records the name of the drug, the dosage, the time of administration, and any other relevant information on specified forms or records. Additionally, Certified Medication Technician takes vital signs and observes patient to detect response to medication. Follows all relevant safety guidelines and regulations. Requires a high school diploma. Requires Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification. Typically reports to a registered nurse or manager. How you make a difference
The Certified Medication Technician is responsible for all aspects of medication administration within the scope of his / her certification and under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse.

Education
High School graduate or equivalent.
Experience
1 year related experience in a medical environment preferred.
Licenses / Certifications
Must be certified as a Medication Technician in the state within which services are provided and have current CPR Certification.
Additional Details
CNA-M or CMT required. CRMA not eligible.
