The Capital Area Division (CAD) of Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA) seeks a seeks a chemical engineer to design and develop the scale-up processes to produce various biosynthesized molecular products and to develop the large-scale method and instrumental requirements for downstream molecule purification. The candidate will work on a team to optimize existing bioprocesses to improve productivity, yield, and cost-effectiveness, as well as scale-up bioprocesses from laboratory to pilot and commercial production scale. The candidate will focus on downstream processing, including separation and purification of biosynthesized materials. The candidate will possess experience conducting experiments and analyze data to characterize and optimize purification process parameters, such as via filtration, separations, and established analytical methods. The perfect candidate will possess a Master’s degree in chemical engineering and have 5 years of industry experience. Such industry experience will include experience in process development and optimization, preferably in a biotechnology industry setting. We also require a strong understanding of downstream processes required to yield a pure product.
