    Summary:


    The Maintenance Technician will be responsible for building, grounds, and mostly mechanical maintenance on commercial and industrial equipment within a chemical packaging and distribution facility. This will include but is not limited to industrial rotating equipment, mechanical seals and gaskets, industrial valves and other piping components, millwright work, pipefitting, steel work, sheet metal work, and carpentry work. Responsible for ensuring safety standards are maintained within assigned areas of responsibility with prompt repair of potential safety hazards to avoid injuries or damage to assets. Performs various production operations functions as requested and required when maintenance duties do not require 40 hours.


    Key Function Areas of Responsibility:

    • Follow and perform preventative maintenance on all equipment
    • Repair or rebuild various mechanical equipment and parts
    • Keeps grounds and facility in good working order, including maintaining physical structure.
    Responsibilities:
    • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment with using a comprehensive knowledge base of mechanical and electrical skills while able to read hydraulic, electrical, and other mechanical systems schematics.
    • Listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine.
    • Dismantles defective machines, equipment and installs new or repaired parts; rebuilds hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
    • Performs Lube Routes in accordance with Preventative Maintenance Plans; Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
    • Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs and replaces gauges, valves, pressure regulators, and related equipment with operational team leads and associated operators.
    • Performs building repairs including man doors, windows, roll-up doors, stairs, plumbing, and gutter work.
    • Repairs and maintains physical structure of establishment.
    • Performs related grounds keeping duties to include preventing the harborage of pest, rodents, and other applicable wildlife.
    • Assist with instrument calibrations as needed.
    • Coordinates repairs and assists with acquiring bids from contractors, as appropriate.
    • Performs all duties as specified above while wearing appropriate PPE to include but not be limited to a full-face respirator
    • Maintains appropriate personal hygiene and facial hair standards to allow for an appropriate seal of the full-face respirator
    • Receives and reviews request for maintenance needs from Operation and Plant Leadership.
    • Understands industrial safety and housekeeping procedures.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    • Technical training or trade school completion highly preferred. High School diploma or GED required.
    • 3 years or more of commercial maintenance experience required; Combination of 5-10 years experience and/or technical or trade school training highly preferred.
    • Experience within a manufacturing facility highly preferred.
    • Must have a high mechanical aptitude.
    • Plumbing and Carpentry experience a plus.
    • Physical stamina to handle a full shift of being active and working in an austere, chemical environment while donned in the necessary PPE as required.
