Chemical Plant Operator controls equipment and systems that process chemical substances and materials into products. Operates equipment and monitors the production process to ensure efficient and safe output. Being a Chemical Plant Operator follows standard operating procedures and performs in process quality checks to identify and resolve issues during processing. Troubleshoots problems with equipment, respond to system notifications and makes required adjustments as needed. Additionally, Chemical Plant Operator enters required production data and information into logs. May unload or move materials. Follows all procedures for safe material handling and required safety gear. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Chemical Plant Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

    • Maintain crusher plant operations to ensure timely production.
    • Monitor gauges, dials and operation of machinery.
    • Perform safety inspections and run routine staff safety meetings.
    • Coordinate production and loading of aggregate.
    • Communicate and receive directions from team members.
    • Direct general operations of loader operator, truck driver, laborer, and plant repair.
    • Assist other departments as assigned to meet business needs.
    • Promptly communicate with supervisors on any flaws in material.
    • Take action to avoid potential hazards or obstructions.
    • Regular and timely attendance.
    • Participate in and promote an inclusive work environment.


    Qualifications

    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.


    Minium Qualifications

    • Must be able to positively lead, manage and influence a team of individuals.
    • Safety minded professional who demonstrates good performance, attendance and punctuality.
    • Must pass pre-employment physical exam and pre-employment controlled substance testing.
    • Demonstrates the ability to work overtime and weekends/holidays as needed.
    • Demonstrates the ability to conform to and maintain OSHA, MSHA, DOT and all other company or state rules and regulations.
    • Must have current US Authorization to work or ability to obtain without company assistance prior to start date.


    Preferred Qualifications

    • Mechanical skills including knowledge of machines, tools, equipment, mechanic’s hand tools, power tools, welding and cutting equipment, lubricating tools, hoists, cranes, service trucks, electrical testing, and mechanical troubleshooting.
    • Previous crushing and/or maintenance experience.

    • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions and vibration. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.

    • Primarily work 10-16 hours per day 5-7 days per week during the peak season, occasional night work.
    • May require traveling for periods of time to perform job duties at various job site locations.
