Chief Helicopter Pilot partners with general aviation management to establish and implement operating policies and procedures for helicopter pilots. Ensures flights are operated in compliance with all applicable FAA regulations. Being a Chief Helicopter Pilot schedules flight personnel, maintenance and maintains flight records. Assumes flight duty. Additionally, Chief Helicopter Pilot has all required licenses and meets flying time requirements. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires Commercial Pilot license for helicopters - CPL(H). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Chief Helicopter Pilot manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Chief Helicopter Pilot typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     • Acting as pilot in command (PIC) of flights for which the pilot has been scheduled.
    • Providing excellent customer service to passengers.
    • Complying with schedules and other directives governing the aircraft’s operation.
    • Ensuring that preflight inspections are performed.
    • Studying weather conditions at departure, destination, enroute, and alternate airports
    • Preparing flight plans.
    • Ensuring that the aircraft is clean and prepared for flight with all provisions on board for the safety and comfort of the passengers.
    • Reviewing and calculating the aircraft weight and balance, fuel on board and performance charts.
    • Use of checklists.
    • Supervising the first officer (second in command) in any duties necessary for the smooth, safe and efficient operation of the aircraft.
    • Coordinating the functioning of all crewmembers assigned to the flight.
    • Monitoring crew performance, sharing knowledge with crewmembers and evaluating crewmember potential for advancement.
    • Making decisions necessary to start, delay, or cancel flights and deviate the flight from planned route or destination when operating conditions dictate.
    • Attend recurrent training in applicable type aircraft as necessary.
    • Accomplish tasks as assigned by the Chief Pilot.
    • Report maintenance deficiencies to the Director of Maintenance in a timely manner.

    Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in aviation management or related field
    • 3000 or more total hours.
    • 1500 or more PIC hours.
    • Turbine Experience
    • Type rated in CE560XL aircraft is preferred.
