SUMMARY:
We are seeking a Chief Operating Officer (COO) who is not only passionate about social change but also brings a unique blend of clinical expertise, operational acumen, and strategic leadership. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in healthcare and human services; program supervision and development; quality and compliance, risk management; budgeting and fiscal management; and leadership development. The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for program operations associated within all service lines across all sites and locations. The position provides the leadership and management to ensure that there are proper systems, processes and procedures for effective and efficient program administration. Additionally, the COO will be responsible for supporting a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, and professional growth and development.
KEY RESPONSIBILIITES:
Operational Excellence and Program Development
Spearhead efforts to build and expand organizational infrastructure to support program growth and service delivery.
Oversee and enhance current programs and services within the organization ensuring quality service delivery.
Develop and implement new programs and initiatives to meet evolving community need.
Team Development and Leadership
Provide leadership to promote diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging, and the implementation of the organizational plan.
Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and professional growth and development among staff members.
Partner with the Human Resources department to create strategies for recruitment and retention.
Collaboration and Partnerships
Cultivate and maintain strategic partnerships with other organizations, funders, government agencies, and stakeholders.
Represent the organization in a variety of settings to enhance its visibility and impact.
Collaborate and develop internal partnerships with support departments to build the infrastructure of the organization.
Be an ambassador for the individuals served, staff, stakeholders, and the organization.
Quality, Compliance and Risk Management
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards though a comprehensive compliance program.
Develop systems to identify, manage, and mitigate risks to protect the organization's reputation and assets.
Create an infrastructure to support measurement of Key Performance Indicators and consistent improvement in program and service delivery.
Fiscal Management
Responsible for executive level budget development and management of programs and services.
Works closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Finance Team on the appropriate design and implementation of reporting for long and short range planning to support financial management and health of the organization.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: A Master's degree in social work, healthcare administration, or a related field. Master’s Degree in Social Work (MSW), with a valid clinical LMSW license highly preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience, ideally in healthcare, behavioral health, substance use services, affordable housing administration, nonprofit management, or social services.

Demonstrated track record of successful leadership, and operational management.
Strong financial acumen and experience managing complex budgets and financial performance.
Exceptional communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Travel: Travel within service areas, some out-of-area travel (up to 45%). Must maintain a valid Michigan driver’s license and driving record that meets insurability requirements.
