As a Police Chief, you will be responsible for maintaining public safety and enforcing laws within a designated jurisdiction. You will work to prevent crime, protect individuals and property, and ensure community well-being.
Duties
- Provides over site and leadership of the police department operations and officers
- Conduct patrols to monitor criminal activity and respond to emergencies
- Investigate crimes, gather evidence, and interview witnesses
- Enforce traffic laws and issue citations when necessary
- Arrest suspects and prepare them for legal proceedings
- Provide assistance to the public during emergencies or crises
- Write detailed reports documenting incidents and actions taken
Requirements:
- Continuous support and outreach of our community organizations, local university, business owners, and the public; as well as demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with city officials, departments, and other area law enforcement agencies.
- Applicants must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a public law enforcement agency; OR three (3) years experience in a public law enforcement agency and two (2) years of comparable experience or educational training.
- Must meet all the minimum hiring standards as set forth by the ILEA.
- Applicants already possessing an ILEA (police officer) certification or comparable state certification, Associate Degree (or higher) in criminal justice or applicable field. Veterans will be given preference.
- Any employment offer will be conditioned upon the results of a background investigation, a psychological examination, and a physical examination.
- Salary will be negotiated based on qualifications and certifications.

- Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and practices
- Ability to handle firearms and other police equipment
- Proficiency in conflict management and de-escalation techniques
