The Clinical Risk Manager is in charge of supporting the Executive Leadership, the Quality Department, and the Director of Quality. The Clinical Risk Manager is accountable for carrying out tasks that support the risk management objectives, performance improvement, peer review support, and other quality review functions while collaborating with members of the Quality department, Management Teams, and Professional Staff. The Clinical Risk Manager supports and keeps track of patient safety programs across the Hospital in partnership with the Director of Quality, Vice President of Quality, Chief Nursing Officer, Chief Medical Officer, and Chief Executive Officer.
The Clinical Risk Manager is accountable to the Director of Quality and is charged with assisting with investigations into adverse patient outcomes, evaluating events, developing safety strategies, reviewing policies, supporting peer review activities and committees, taking part in investigations into Sentinel Events, conducting root cause analyses and/or focused reviews or debriefs, investigating claims, and assisting with regulatory agency responses. We consult with staff, leadership, physicians, risk management consultants, legal teams, and other risk management, quality, and regulatory organizations in order to ensure the use of best practice procedures, policy alignment, and our compliance with rules and regulations as well as to lower the risk of patient harm, monitor, and maintain high-quality, safe patient care.
