  • Regional One Health is currently seeking a Supervisor, EMS Communications.

    JOB SUMMARY: Plans, organizes and supervises the activities of the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) communications department in accordance with applicable administrative and regulatory requirements to provide twenty-four (24) hour routine and emergency radio/telephone communications within the MEDCOM center (MEDCOM serves as the coordination point in situations requiring EMS resources and follows and coordinates pre-hospital information for air/ground ambulance services).  Serves as a liaison and works collaboratively with various internal departments and external agencies/organizations/committees to communicate and coordinate emergency services.

    EXPERIENCE:  Minimum of 3 years’ experience in progressive emergency radio and telephone communications is required.  One (1) or more years of Supervisory experience preferred.

    Licenses and Certifications: TN Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification / License is required.

    Key Job Responsibilities / Essential Functions

    Apprises Director, Trauma Services of all activities, pertinent changes in internal/external market, threats, and opportunities in a timely and anticipatory manner and presents action plans for immediate implementation/approval.

    Maintains current awareness of customer needs, regulatory requirements and meets standards to ensure that the hospital achieves its objectives in providing accurate and timely EMS communications related to air and ground medical transportation systems. Assists in developing policies and procedures required for department operations. Ensures compliance with applicable policies, standards and regulatory requirements.

    Establishes and maintains operational relationships with appropriate public safety agencies and other communication centers to promote and ensure effective/efficient communications network throughout the region. Works with agencies as needed to ensure applicable staffing is allocated in accordance with approved protocols.

    Serves as a liaison, consults and works effectively with staff members, appropriate internal committees/task forces and external agencies/ organizations to align and collaborate emergency communication issues. Represents the organization and participates in various regional, state and local committees/task forces to communicate information and coordinate emergency services.

    Ensures performance improvement activities are ongoing and are customer and safety focused addressing the needs of Regional One Health and compliance with the State of Tennessee’s rules and regulations for pre-hospital emergency communications.

    Ensures that required logs, reports, records, tapes, statistics, files and other documentation are prepared and maintained for administrative and regulatory purposes.

    Provides leadership and guidance to MEDCOM staff. Selects, trains, orients, assigns, monitors, and evaluates departmental staff, providing a mechanism for on-going staff education to ensure that a capable and qualified staff exists in the department.

    Ensures that all radio and communications equipment operator’s licenses are renewed prior to expiration dates and copies of licenses are posted per FCC/state requirements.

    Ensures equipment is functioning properly. Maintains operating and repair contracts with appropriate service agencies to ensure timely repair/replacement and preventative maintenance of equipment
