Community Development Manager manages the economic development lending activities to support or subsidize improvements in the community. Ensures company visibility is established in the area and promotes relationships with groups, agencies, and organizations in the community to identify lending and other business development opportunities. Being a Community Development Manager evaluates the current and future credit needs of the community and develops a strong understanding of the local issues and needs. Actively monitors public programs that support community development initiatives. Additionally, Community Development Manager initiates policy changes or enhancements to ensure compliance with Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) and other regulations. Makes recommendations to expand and develop lending programs. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Community Development Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions.     POSITION TITLE: Career Development Counselor

    DEPARTMENT: Health Sciences and Nursing

    REPORTS TO: Dean of Health Sciences and Nursing

    STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

    As a Career Development Counselor, you will have the opportunity to work with students as they explore career options that match their career interest and align with the programs available at Bristol and the programmatic outcomes available within the Health Sciences and Nursing Departments. Utilizing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, career coaches will promote academic and personal success by implementing a comprehensive program that encompasses areas of personal and social development of students as well as academic and career needs.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Helps students identify personal interests and life goals.
    • Assists students in planning strategic career planning,
    • Assist students as needed with resumes and cover letters development.
    • Holds workshops for students who are searching for career paths in healthcare.
    • Meet one on one with students to determine academic and career goals.  
    • Guides students that are looking for a new pathway in health sciences and nursing, be it due to being unsuccessful, withdrawal or personal reasons.
    • Provides career assessment, development, and management services.
    • Considers students strengths, past experiences and education when making recommendations.
    • Answers student's questions about educational pathways available at Bristol Community College within and associated with Health Sciences.
    • Maintain accurate and complete records of participant interactions, events, and all other work assignments.
    • Prepare reports on students and activities as required.
    • Become a contact for parent and participant inquiries.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.


    Job Requirements:

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or closely related field; with three (3) years experience and/or training that includes vocational counseling, vocational testing/assessment, vocational referrals, employment services, or career development/transition; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
    • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, as well as technology and computer applications common in education.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to actively attend to, convey, and understand the comments and questions of others.
    • Ability to act in a self-confident manner to facilitate completion of a work assignment or to defend a position or idea.
    • Ability to appreciate and be sensitive to the feelings of others.
    • Ability to effectively present information publicly.
    • Ability to show consideration for and maintain good relations with others.
    • Ability to convince a group of people to work toward a goal.
    • Ability to Pass a criminal background check and drug test.
    • The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's degree with a concentration in career counseling.
    • Experience in a community college setting
    • Demonstrated proficiency with Blackboard, Banner, Argos, and/or DegreeWorks.
    • Must have excellent management and motivational skills.
    • Strong computer skills and knowledge of designing spreadsheets and maintaining databases is a plus.
    • Demonstrated commitment to closing the equity gaps.
    • Ability to speak a language in addition to English.

    Additional Information:

    POSITION STATUS: This is an MCCC/MTA, full time, grant funded unit position with benefits. This position is subject to grant budget appropriations.

    STARTING DATE: Fall 2023

    SALARY:  Minimum salary $52,754 - $62,718 - Labor Grade 4. Actual salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and consistent with the MCCC/MTA Collective Bargaining Agreement, which may result in a higher salary than the stated range. Please refer to the New Hire Tables in the CBA for more information.
