Compensation Director is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation programs, including base pay, incentive pay, and performance management programs. Leads the compensation function and works with senior management to ensure that compensation strategy and programs support the organization's business objectives, meet all legal requirements, and deliver value and equitable pay. Being a Compensation Director develops compensation budget for assigned areas and manages budget after it is approved. Establishes data collection and analysis processes for market, pay equity, and other compensation studies. Additionally, Compensation Director may be responsible for entire organization or for one or more major segments of a larger organization. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Compensation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Compensation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. Director, Strategic Provider Compensation (Hybrid-Remote Position OR/WA Only)

    This is a hybrid-remote position - incumbents, who reside in Oregon or Washington only and will attend onsite meetings as needed

     

    All new hires are required to come to a designated Legacy Health office location in Portland, Oregon prior to their start date for a new hire health assessment and to complete new hire paperwork.

We run more than 70 primary care, specialty and urgent care clinics and employ nearly 3,000 doctors and providers and more than 13,000 employees. We also operate labs and research centers. Our major partnerships include those with Pacific Source Health Plans and the Unity Center for Behavioral Health, a one-of-a-kind center for people facing a mental health crisis that is collaboratively operated between four regional health systems and numerous community partners.

Legacy Health seeks a Director of Strategic Provider Compensation who will set the vision and direction for provider compensation practices and collaborate with various cross functional teams and leaders to ensure these programs are successful.

     

    The Director of Strategic Provider Compensation oversees employed provider compensation pay practices in Legacy Medical Group and Legacy Health.  This leadership role is responsible for ensuring that provider compensation practices support our transition to a value-based care, are consistently and fairly applied across the medical group, meet all regulatory compliance standards, and attract and retain a strong provider team.This role is responsible for leading a small but focused team that designs, oversees, documents, communicates, and administers all aspects of employed provider compensation.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    Bachelor’s degree required.  Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or Population Health preferred.

    Experience developing comprehensive compensation plans and designing compensation plan changes and updated is required.

    Strong preference for leadership experience in a medical group setting preferred.

     

    Experience: 

    Required: Minimum of three years’ experience managing or administering provider (physician and APP) compensation plans required. Minimum of two years leadership experience required which may including formal managerial responsibilities, leading of project or task force teams, committee leadership, and/or program leadership. 

     

    Preferred: Three years of progressive leadership experience in a medical group, including extensive direct interactions with providers.  Three years of experience in HR/compensation, Financial Planning/Plan Administration, and/or Medical Group Operational Leadership.

     

    Skills: 

    High proficiency in Excel required.

    Financial modeling skills required.

    Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proposal development and presentation skills required.

    Knowledge of market data reporting/aggregation, fair market value and commercial reasonableness, and wRVUs is required.

    Project managements skills preferred.

    Established skills managing external consulting relationships preferred. 

    Knowledge of physician and/or medical group quality/value measures preferred.

    Understanding of medical group, hospital, and hospital system operations preferred.
