Compensation Director is responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the organization's compensation programs, including base pay, incentive pay, and performance management programs. Leads the compensation function and works with senior management to ensure that compensation strategy and programs support the organization's business objectives, meet all legal requirements, and deliver value and equitable pay. Being a Compensation Director develops compensation budget for assigned areas and manages budget after it is approved. Establishes data collection and analysis processes for market, pay equity, and other compensation studies. Additionally, Compensation Director may be responsible for entire organization or for one or more major segments of a larger organization. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Compensation Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Compensation Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Job Summary
    This position is responsible for shaping the strategic planning and implementation of compensation policies and structures within the organization. Ensures that programs adhere to current regulations and support the organization’s strategic objectives. This role oversees the development, execution, and assessment of compensation programs that are designed to attract, retain, and motivate employees. It is important that this role balances industry standards with internal equity, with a deep understanding of market trends, regulatory compliance, and the impact of compensation on organizational culture and financial health. This role works with HR and senior management to improve the hiring and retention of staff through establishing a well-designed compensation practice that contribute to the overall success.
    Responsibilities
    • Oversee the development and implementation of the company’s compensation philosophy, policies, and procedures.
    • Design, manage and administer benefit programs that support business needs, including base salary, incentive pay, bonuses, and other pay options.
    • Evaluates current programs to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and competitiveness with other organizations.
    • Oversee the analysis and benchmarking of compensation data against market standards to maintain competitiveness and compliance with regulations.
    • Develop and manage sources of market information, including surveys, professional associations, and networking opportunities.
    • Setting objectives and guidelines among their staff, delegating responsibilities, facilitating researchand assessments, and developing strategies to optimize compensation operations.
    • Lead the compensation team in supporting annual processes such as salary review cycles and bonus payouts.
    • Direct the preparation and distribution of detailed compensation reports and presentations for leadership, highlighting trends, analysis, and recommendations.
    • Guide training and development activities in compensation management and rewards for HR and business leaders
    Minimum Requirements
    • Bachelor’s degree in human resources or business-related field
    • Minimum 10 years’ experience related to benefits industry and practices.
    • Knowledge with federal contract compliance (SCA, DBA, HTA)
    Preferred Skills
    • Knowledge of state LWO compliance and company responsibility
    • Experience with union environment.
    • Proven team leadership skills
    • Demonstrated knowledge and success in planning and administration at all organizational levels, including policies, communications, tools, and best practices.
    • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to communicate and produce effective presentations cross-functionally with all levels of leadership across the organization.
    • Strong analytical and research skills
    • Ability to show discretions with confidential information.
    • Proven ability to adapt quickly to changing business conditions and priorities.
    • Proactive problem-solving skills and communication demonstrated initiative to investigate processes and project needs through collaborative research and analysis; and an ability to execute recommendations and action plans.
    • Understanding of HR practices and principles, including knowledge of applicable state and federal laws associated with the administration of compensation programs.
    • Professional certification (CCP, CBP, and/or SHRM-CP)
    • Proficient in excel and spreadsheet including V-lookup and pivot table abilities.
    • Thorough knowledge of common HRIS, preferably SAP SuccessFactors.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
    • Excellent customer service skills
    Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
    • Remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
    • Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
    • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine and computer printer.
    • Walk short distances.
    • Reach above and/or below shoulder.
    • Handle/grasp documents or office equipment.
