The Compliance Specialist is responsible for maintaining compliance standards across all facets of retail operations, ensuring the company is complying with State cannabis rules and regulations, as well as all applicable federal and local law. The Compliance Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies. The Compliance Specialist will develop, implement, and maintain essential compliance programs and protocols as they pertain to Retail operations and policies including, but not limited to: collaborating with department heads to ensure all teams and supervisors are aware of regulatory updates and changes; performing random and scheduled audits of all areas of the business to ensure compliance including inventory management, proper use of State track-and-trace systems, and recordkeeping practices; and developing and assuring regulatory training materials and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are kept current and in alignment with constantly evolving laws and regulations.
In this role you will...
- Maintain dispensaries and associated processes and systems in line with state, local and applicable federal regulations.

Liaise between the company and the state to submit required reports, requested information, and reportable events.

Track developments in regulatory changes and legislation to maintain a proactive approach to compliance processes.

Manage state required policies, standard operating procedures, logs, and work instructions and associated change management processes.

Develop compliance trainings, ensuring training materials and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are kept current and in alignment with constantly evolving laws and regulations

Create, implement and perform internal regulatory audits to ensure company operations and processes abide by local, state, and applicable federal laws.

Review marketing collateral to ensure compliance with state regulations.

Develop effective documentation methods of tracking unusual or unique activity.

Create reports of general facility compliance and communicate suggestions for improvement; spearhead compliance improvement changes as needed.

Work with key staff to implement necessary policy and procedure changes and quality control measures that guarantee adequate and safe dispensation.

Provide updates to management on pending and current compliance issues, suggestions, and regulations.

Prepares and submits documentation required for regulatory inspections, coordinates the inspection process for internal departments and state regulators, and coordinates CAPA as necessary.

Leverage technology resources to streamline and automate compliance tracking and documentation.

Update internal databases with Compliance information (external and internal audits, reportable events, CAPAs, etc.).

Actively participate in Compliance and Retail Operations team meetings.

Collaborate with Compliance team members across states to align procedures and documentation while also accounting for different State regulations

Develop and maintain positive relationships and excellent communication with State and local inspectors and regulators.
Skills & experience you have...
- High School Education or GED graduate; some college or college graduate preferred.

Microsoft efficient, with ability to learn new software's.

Ability to perform monotonous tasks with great efficiency while maintaining quality.
- High attention to detail, and experience inputting and reporting on high volumes of data.
- Must be able to work well in a group and independently; demonstrate self-motivation and initiative.

Ability to read and understand laws, ordinances, rules, and regulations.

Excellent organizational skills, ability to develop and implement operational best practices.

Must be at least 21 years of age and able to pass a background check.

Must be able to obtain & maintain required state licenses based on work location.

2 years of experience in compliance or quality control.

Cannabis industry experience is preferred but not required.

Ability to use and manage State Track-and-Trace platforms and Dutchie POS.

Must be able and willing to travel to various site locations within the state on a weekly and monthly basis.
