Description:
This position will evaluate the Reactor systems response to various design and operational changes. The Reactor is typically modeled in ANSYS with time-based inputs to predict the response of the system. Evaluations are highly non-linear and support ASME Vessel code analyses. Work scopes are typically controlled by NRC approved or long-standing accepted methodologies, align with ASME code analyses. Evaluation techniques have been automated using scripting and other techniques.
Essential Responsibilities
• Work scope includes the following essential responsibilities:
• Perform linear and non-linear dynamic structural evaluation to predict system responses and resulting loads (and other similar analyses) for reactor systems and internals components. Demonstrated understanding of the dynamic response of structures
• Creation and evaluation of analysis models using ANSYS and ANSYS APDL as well as other similar numerical simulation codes.
• Review archive records and evaluate the impact of design/operational changes on the conclusions within those archive records.
• Ability to provide clear and complete analysis documentation in accordance with GE engineering procedures.
• Communicate effectively to leadership the status of work activity
Skills & Qualifications:
Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent applicable degree)
• Capable of providing 1st principles approach to define problem and expand into higher order concerns to refine analysis requirements.
• 5 year experience performing computer simulated load evaluations
• Experience using dynamic simulations to model complex structures.
• Proficient of working between time and frequency domains
