Corporate Compliance Director manages the compliance programs, policies, reporting, and practices for an organization or business. Ensures that all activities follow regulatory requirements related to the governance of the organization as well as any industry-specific or location-specific laws. Being a Corporate Compliance Director oversees internal controls and auditing systems that monitor and report on regulated activities and processes. Implements risk-based compliance testing of existing procedures and controls to identify, detect, and correct noncompliance. Additionally, Corporate Compliance Director evaluates and implements changes to compliance processes due to new or amended regulations. Delivers communication and training initiatives that inform stakeholders about compliance requirements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Corporate Compliance Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Corporate Compliance Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.   • POSITION SUMMARY:

    Under the supervision of the Chief Compliance, Privacy and Risk Management Officer responsible for the development, implementation, oversight, and evaluation of the agency’s Compliance Program. As directed, supports, and leads investigations of all instances of suspected illegal or unethical conduct and works in conjunction with authorized outside investigators, consultants, and legal counsel when appropriate. Supports and fosters a culture of compliance at all levels of the organization.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

    As directed by the Chief Compliance, Privacy and Risk Management Officer, assists, supports, or leads the following activities of the compliance department:

    • Develops and implements of the agency’s Compliance Program through the annual work plan.
    • Conducts risk assessments with the Compliance Committee to identify, evaluate and mitigate high risk areas.
    • Identifies methods to reduce the agency’s vulnerability to fraud and abuse through means such as periodic compliance and privacy audits, establishing effective communication lines, written policies and procedures and staff training and education.
    • Minimizes risk potential by developing and monitoring follow-up actions on all external audits and reviews that identify deficiencies.
    • Directs process improvement steps through use of corrective action plans and monitors for ongoing implementation and adherence.
    • Ensure regulatory compliance by researching and monitoring regulatory changes, acting on regulatory updates and supporting the implementation of designated changes.
    • Recommends appropriate revisions to new or existing compliance and privacy policies and procedures to reduce risk and prevent future occurrences

    Develops, coordinates, and participates in compliance-related training with staff.

    • Promptly investigates allegations of illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
    • Leads and directs compliance and privacy investigation efforts through interviews, and the collection and analysis of data.
    • Performs gap analysis to determine noncompliance with regulations, standards, and contracts.
    • Coordinates with Human Resources to ensure the consistent and fair application of disciplinary action related to compliance program violations.
    • Coordinates with Human Resources and Chief Financial Officer to ensure that all new and existing staff and vendors are regularly screened against the HHS OIG’s List of Excluded Individuals & Entities and the Excluded Party List at SAM.gov and assist with follow-up action as appropriate.
    • Promotes compliance with all applicable regulations including but not limited to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), 42 CFR Part 2 and the False Claims Act.
    • Reports information on activities of the Compliance Program to the Compliance Officer regularly and assists with quarterly reports to Sr. Leadership and the Board of Directors.
    • Regularly monitors and reports on priorities and deadlines, monitors progress and effectiveness.
    • Maintains all compliance files, communicates progress, and escalates issues or risks as appropriate.
    • Develops a deep understanding of the depth and breadth of NARA programs, mission vision, integrated care model.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Has a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with medical and administrative personnel and to manage stressful situations.
    • Deals with difficult situations diplomatically
    • Must have exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
    • Possesses strong skills as a communicator and educator.
    • Exhibits determination to maintain confidentiality at all times.
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Experience with Microsoft Office or related products required and experience in database management and system development desired.
    • Ability to function effectively in teams and independently as well as efficiently in a stressful and dynamic work environment.
