    GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
    Responsible for leading and directing all aspects of Credit Risk within the organization. Credit Risk is ultimately responsible for identifying, measuring, reporting, and managing the Credit Risk function within the organization. Credit Risk will perform this function by conducting ongoing in-depth portfolio risk analyses and performance monitoring to protect Golden 1’s assets including identifying mitigating controls and measures to mitigate credit exposure related to loan products (including loan participations purchased) and other member products and services with a credit element (i.e. Courtesy Pay, credit qualification for deposit products, deposit withdrawal limits, minimum opening account amounts). Monitors industry and internal credit risk exposures and operational risk considerations, with the goal of reducing overall risk. Works closely with leadership in Finance, Lending, and Product Analytics & Risk to develop and communicate policies and programs directed at mitigating credit risk.

    TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:
    1. Understand, evaluate and direct Golden 1’s credit culture, underwriting, related lending policies, risk profile, portfolio and product concentration risks, including geographic, industry, risk rating methodology, and other aggregate credit characteristics.
    2. Train, develop and direct the Credit Risk Team they are monitoring (1) loan portfolio performance including static pool analysis (2) credit risk trends including quality, product, economic, and underwriting standards and (3) conditions affecting collateral values and identify resultant credit exposures.
    3. Foster a positive and engaging work environment for each team member by promoting skill development, coaching for improvement and growth, inspiring others through your words and actions, ensuring positive employee morale throughout Golden 1, and embracing our mission, vision and core values.
    4. Responsible for ensuring the Credit Risk Management Committee (CRMC) obtains sufficient information and analysis to allow the committee to discharge its fiduciary responsibilities for credit risk. This will include the development and presentation of comprehensive and relevant reporting to the CRMC.
    5. Responsible for ensuring the creation, implementation and reevaluation of best practice credit risk-related procedures and policies throughout the credit union.
    6. Perform risk reviews as needed for member products and services.
    7. Evaluate and recommend credit policies and procedures as appropriate to CRMC.
    8. Contribute to enhancing loan policies as needed to fulfill credit risk functions and goals.
    9. Partner with Lending and Product Analytics & Risk to monitor and evaluate ongoing performance of custom score (AI) models used in the loan decisioning process.
    10. Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position.
    11. Develop and maintain an understanding of the pertinent regulatory requirements and risks inherent to job responsibilities. Establish and maintain control activities that mitigate those risks consistent with the Credit Union’s risk appetite and ensure operational integrity and compliance with applicable regulations.
    PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASKS:
    1. Effective oral and written communication skills required to make presentations, and discuss products and services.
    2. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an on-line computer terminal and other standard office equipment, such as financial calculators, personal computer, facsimile machine and telephone.

    ORGANIZATIONAL CONTACTS & RELATIONSHIPS:
    1. INTERNAL: All departments, all levels of management. May make regular reports to the Credit Policy, Strategy and Credit committees.
    2. EXTERNAL: Peers in other financial institutions.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work experience.
    2. EXPERIENCE: 8 years or more experience as a Lender or in Credit Risk or Credit Administration at a financial institution. Demonstrated experience performing consumer and real estate credit risk management functions. Commercial credit risk experience is a plus.
    3. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Excellent knowledge of credit risk, project management, audit and business analysis. Excellent planning, time management, decision-making, presentation, organization, and interpersonal skills. Working knowledge of personal computer operations and various credit modeling/software applications such as SAS, R, or Python.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    1. Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
    2. Corrected vision within the normal range.
    3. Hearing within normal range. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed.
    4. Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc.
    5. Unusually long work hours may be required to accomplish tasks.
