Savers Bank is seeking a talented Commercial Credit Manager to oversee our commercial credit function and lead our dedicated credit staff. As a Commercial Credit Officer, you will play a crucial role in managing the underwriting of new and existing commercial credit, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with regulatory standards. Officer level (e.g., AVP or VP) will be determined based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership: Lead and mentor our credit staff, providing ongoing coaching, training, and development opportunities.
• Portfolio Management: Monitor potential problem credits and work with relationship loan officers and collections to minimize losses.
• Strategic Initiatives: Drive strategy and implement new products, services, and technologies to enhance efficiency and improve customer experience.
• Underwriting: Manage the underwriting process for commercial credit, making recommendations and providing guidance to ensure sound credit decisions.
• Credit Approval: Recommend approval, declination, or alternate options for credit prior to presentation to the Credit Committee.
• Quality Control: Ensure the quality control assessment of customer credit files and monitor periodic credit reviews, portfolio management, and legal documentation.
• Regulatory Compliance: Provide oversight and direction for compliance with regulations including Bank Secrecy Act, AML, OFAC, CRA, HMDA, and USA Patriot Act.
• Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks, proactively guiding the development of credit structures and decisions to maintain portfolio quality and protect capital.
• Negotiation: Assist in negotiating credit agreements and terms, including deal structures such as rates and fees.
• Market Research: Conduct ad-hoc portfolio analyses and market research to support strategic initiatives and growth objectives.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Act as a liaison for other internal departments.
• Oversee third-party relationships with Banc Alliance and other purchased loans and business partners.
• Liaise with credit teams associated with participation loans.
• Lead commercial projects and manage various contracts and vendor relationships.
• Chair and voting member of Credit and Security Committees.
• Effectively multitask with competing deadlines and responsibilities.
• Contribute to business development efforts.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, economics, or equivalent work experience
• Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in commercial credit underwriting, due diligence processes from origination to close as well as well versed in customer negotiations
• Strong written, verbal, analytical skills and technologically savvy (including advanced Excel and report writing capabilities)
• Experience with training, mentoring, and leading a team
• Thorough knowledge of credit-related laws and experience with leading regulatory examinations as well as audit.
