Credit Clerk evaluates and suggests creditworthiness of prospects and customers to decrease financial risk to the organization. Checks credit applications and grants approval within established guidelines for organizations or individuals. Being a Credit Clerk communicates with the customers and other departments to solve the credit problems. May negotiate terms of payment to assist with collection of overdue balances. Additionally, Credit Clerk requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Credit Clerk possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. CREDIT AND CASH APPLICATION CLERK

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

     

    • Imports check data from banks website for posting.
    • Posts payments received from customers to proper accounts and documents.
    • Locates accounts and identifies items to be paid.
    • Processes ACH withdrawals and wire transfers and applies payments.
    • Runs reports and processes all credit card payments.
    • Provides documentation on payment discrepancies and resolves them with customers and the collection staff.
    • Ensures all adjustments, offsets, miscellaneous fees are entered to ensure accurate balances due.
    • Performs month end verification and balancing.  Reviews cash and adjustment reports for month end closing.
    • Compiles, sorts, and files payment records and other credit documents.
    • Responds in a timely fashion to internal and external requests for assistance and/or information.
    • Complies with safety and GMP requirements.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

     

    LANGUAGE SKILLS

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints received from internal personnel, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information either verbally or in writing in one-on-one or small group situations to customers, vendors, and other employees of the organization.

     

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.

     

    REASONING ABILITY

    Good problem solving skills.

     

    OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

    Must be detail-oriented, well organized, and accurate. Must have basis knowledge of Microsoft office suite. Must have good typing, 10-key pad, communication, and math skills. 

     

    Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.
