    DIRECTOR OF TECHNOLOGY

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Bachelor’s Degree in Technology or related field, or Five (5) years of successful experience in job-related field;

    2. Experience with ERate Filings and Services;

    3. Experience with Cybersecurity;

    4. Experience with planning, implementing and maintaining technology infrastructure across multiple locations.

    Superintendent or his/her designee

    SUPERVISES:

    Such staff as the Superintendent may designate

    JOB GOAL:

    To lead the Rapides Parish School System in the development and implementation of a strategic plan for the use of digital resources that will reflect our vision of being relentlessly committed to being an innovative and supportive educational system.

    TERM:

    Twelve Months

    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

    I. Develop and maintain an effective and efficient strategic plan for the Technology Department.

     

    II. Ensure the RPSB takes full advantage of all technology incentive programs, such as e-rate.

     

    III. Oversee and support the purchase of hardware, software and technology infrastructure that supports the vision and goals of the district.

     

    IV. To initiate and maintain adequate security protocols to protect the district's data (e.g. cyber security maintenance)

     

    V. To develop performance objectives and execute a professional growth plan and self- evaluation plan supporting department and school district goals

     

    VI. To plan with all divisions in school system for use of technology/computers and attempt to keep the district on the cutting edge of technology

     

    Vll. To serve as consultant to central office personnel, school-based administrators and teachers for the effective use of technology/computers/hardware and software

     

    Vlll. To meet with central office personnel, principals and teachers to communicate all regulations and policies related to e rate funding, computer internet usage

     

    IX. To develop, integrate and evaluate instructional programs to meet established goals utilizing technology within and among schools for instruction and assessment

     

    X. To design, schedule and conduct training on use of existing and new technology with teaching and learning applications

     

    Xl. To maintain an up-to-date inventory of equipment and ensure routine maintenance is performed to optimize computer performance across the district

     

    Xll. To recommend placement of computers and other technologies on a specified pupil/computer ratio

     

    Xlll. To evaluate and recommend purchase of software that accomplishes desired curriculum objectives

    XIV. To provide computer training assistance to district employees

     

    XV.  To facilitate the development of computer labs in school

     

    XVI. To plan and present in-service programs

     

    XVII. To visit other school districts, participate in conferences and workshops, and disseminate to district personnel new educational developments and ideas in the area of technology

     

    XVIII. To consistently demonstrate self-direction

     

    XIX. To submit accurate records and reports promptly

     

    XX. To foster open communication and positive relationships with school personnel and staff

     

    XXI. To exhibit professional ethics

     

    XXII. To follow state and school board policies 

     

    XXIII. To perform any additional duties assigned by the Supervisor within the scope of teaching and learning during contracted hours.
