    Primary Purpose: 

    Under the direction of the ACE Program Director the ACE College and Career Specialist will plan,  develop, and implement an ACE K-12 College and Career curriculum roadmap at all UCISD ACE Centers.  The ACE College and Career Specialist will also provide College and Career training to all ACE Center Site  Coordinators and staff, and will collaborate with district administrators, principals, and counselors providing a wide variety of college and career information and materials to ACE students, faculty,  parents, business and community representatives concerning college and career readiness. 

     

    Education/Certification:  

    • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field 

    Experience: 

    • School Counseling experience preferred 
    • Bilingual preferred 

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

    1. Provide clear guidance, understanding, and training on College and Career readiness skills to all  ACE Site Coordinators and staff at all ACE centers. 
    2. Provide clear guidance and training to ACE Site Coordinators, ACE staff, and school  administration and personnel on the ACE K-12 curriculum roadmap. 
    3. Provide career and college entrance information and assistance to students, teachers, parents  and counselors; coordinate monthly and yearly college and career ACE operations and clubs and  schedule activities, programs and speakers. 
    4. Plan, organize, develop and implement ACE career days, events, and publications; prepare  letters, flyers, mailers and other materials to publicize ACE College & Career Center services and  resources. 
    5. Create and facilitate student interest inventories and surveys, career experiences and 4-year planning for the ACE program. 
    6. Obtain, organize, file and display guidance materials; catalog and prepare for use by ACE  students; maintain displays and bulletin boards.
    1. Contact, schedule and arrange guest speakers from the local business community, colleges and  military services to present information to ACE centers and students regarding specific  occupations. 
    2. Schedule visitations by representatives from local colleges; organize, coordinate and publicize  career-related events and other opportunities for ACE students to learn about higher education  and vocational training and preparation. 
    3. Develop and present informational presentations as requested; orient students to College &  Career Center resources and Career and Technical Education Programs and Pathways and  certifications including the promotion of equal access. 
    4. Maintain a working relationship with post-secondary schools, business and industry and  community. 
    5. Comply with district policies, as well as state and federal guidelines.  
    6. Assist students in application processes for institutes of higher education and FAFSA. 13. Other duties as assigned. 

    Knowledge and Abilities:  

     

    1. Career and occupational resources, trends, and opportunities. 
    2. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary. 
    3. Modern office practices, procedures, and equipment. 
    4. Record-keeping techniques. 
    5. Oral and written communication skills. 
    6. Telephone techniques and etiquette. 
    7. Basic research methods. 
    8. College admission requirements, financial aid requirements, and training necessary for future  careers. 
    9. FAFSA 

    Ability  

    1. Organize, maintain and operate an ACE K-12 college and career program based on Texas College  and Career readiness standards. 
    2. Provide specialized assistance and information concerning career planning and college entrance  to ACE students, parents, staff, and community agencies.
    1. Obtain, evaluate and process occupational literature. 
    2. Operate modern office equipment including computers and laptops and audio/visual  equipment. 
    3. Work independently using effective public relations skills with little direction. 6. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships. 
    4. Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action. 
    5. Meet schedules and time lines. 
    6. Plan and organize work. 
    7. Maintain confidentiality of information. 
    8. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 
    9. Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures. 

    Supervisory Responsibilities: 

    None 

     

    Organizational Relationships: 

    The ACE College and Career Specialist reports directly to the ACE Program Director; works  collaboratively with ACE Site Coordinators and district counselors and counseling staff; and works  cooperatively with school administrators and district staff.

    Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent district-wide and occasional statewide travel;  occasional prolonged and/or irregular hours.
