Curriculum Specialist, Sr. designs and develops training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners. Conducts skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements. Being a Curriculum Specialist, Sr. consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum. Develops curricula supporting defined competency models or skill frameworks. Additionally, Curriculum Specialist, Sr. writes and edits outlines, syllabus, lecture notes, and materials for in-person or online courses and self-study programs. Evaluates the software or collaboration tools to be selected for training. Establishes metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness. May collaborate with vendors that provide training materials or conduct training. May coach trainers. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Curriculum Specialist, Sr. work is highly independent. May assume a team lead role for the work group. A specialist on complex technical and business matters.     POSITION SUMMARY
    The Museum Educator: Curriculum Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, managing and evaluating a wide range of curricular materials and K-12 classroom engagement for all grades, including curricular materials and classroom programs for special and focus exhibitions, curricular materials and classroom programs for the permanent collection, learning diverse curricular materials, digital curricular materials and online classroom programs, onsite and offsite teacher professional development in alignment with the goals and objectives of the museum. Revising current museum curriculum, teacher professional development materials, and digital learning resources with the goal of reaching a more inclusive learning audience, including ELL and learning diverse communities is also required. The Museum Educator will pursue selected museum initiatives and partnerships with the goal of strengthening and diversifying school programs and resources, such as interns, teacher outreach, professional development programs, and events, and serve as a liaison for developing the Museum as a resource for promoting visual arts education for school children.

    QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCES:
    • Master's degree in art education (preferred), museum studies, or a related discipline
    • Minimum five (5) years of experience working with education or school programs required
    • Classroom teaching and/or Museum education programming preferred
    • A background in learning diverse education preferred
    • Ability to read and understand education audience evaluation reports, program strategy documents, operational plans, and fundamental formal and informal learning theory frameworks
    • Strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to communicate well both orally and in written form with museum members, visitors and colleagues of different ages, interests, and backgrounds
    • Strong organizational skills with close attention to details; exceptional resourcefulness and displays good professional judgment, problem solving, and ability to work under pressure exercising tact and diplomacy always
    • Must be able to thrive in a multi-tasking and changing work environment and have the initiative to undertake and complete projects accurately, on deadline, and at times with minimal supervision
    • Knowledge of current museum, formal and informal educational practices
    • Demonstrated understanding of pedagogy and learning theories
    • Knowledge in K12 literacy development, arts integration, or STEAM preferred
    • Research, writing, editing, and information management skills
    • Proven project planning, coordination, and evaluation skills
    • Proven ability to work well within deadlines on multiple and varied projects simultaneously
    • Proficiency with digital technology, new and emerging media, and current social media, mobile devices and other relevant media
    • Knowledge of American Sign Language and/or multilingual a plus
