Dean of Law manages administrative functions of the college of law. Develops college strategic initiatives and participates in university long-term planning and policy setting. Being a Dean of Law leads college in fundraising and cultivating relationships with donors. Provides senior level administrative leadership in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resource, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. Additionally, Dean of Law requires a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school. Typically reports to top management. The Dean of Law manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and manage internal expense accounts, client billings, and budget preparation.
Maintain and reconcile trust accounts in compliance with legal and ethical requirements.
Collaborate with the firm’s external CPA on audits, tax filings, and financial planning.
Process payroll accurately and ensure compliance with employment and tax regulations.
Prepare financial statements, forecasts, and monthly reports for internal review.
Monitor financial performance and provide insights for operational improvements.
Support compliance with legal and accounting standards and regulations.
Handle ad hoc financial and administrative tasks to support firm operations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
1–3 years of accounting experience; experience in a law firm or general practice environment is a plus.
Familiarity with trust accounting and relevant legal financial management practices.
Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Clio) and advanced Excel skills.
Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
U.S. work authorization required; H-1B sponsorship is available.
