Job Summary
The position entails working with a multidisciplinary team as part of a new product and process integration segment in the engineering department, which includes developing concepts and taking them from initial design and prototyping through installation and startup. The candidate will be required to work closely with fellow engineers, technicians, and machine shops to design and manufacture engineering components and assemblies; and will be responsible for creating and maintaining 3D models, assemblies, and fabrication drawings using Creo CAD package.
Primary Responsibilities
- Evaluates mechanical and electromechanical systems and products by designing and conducting research programs, and by applying principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, and materials engineering.
- Designs parts, components, and assemblies to meet requirements of assigned projects. Creates CAD models, including part and assembly drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs) to support manufacturing, testing and assembly, and support components to assist with assembly.
- Works with senior and fellow engineers to develop alternatives and options for further development of projects and products.
- Supports product sourcing, purchasing, and selection as required by the design process.
- Provides technical and engineering support for day-to-day processing, product development and process improvements.
- Confirms system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods and properties.
- Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling and installing components.
- Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods, testing finished product, system capabilities, and confirming fabrication, assembly and installation processes.
- Participates in technical reviews of requirements, specifications, designs, and codes.
- Works closely with controls engineers to create automation integrated equipment solutions.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of CAD modeling, drawings and machine design with experience in design analyses. Experience with Creo is a major plus.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes including turning, milling, and welding.
- Experience with CAM software is a plus
- Bachelor of Science or Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Hands on experience with equipment design; energetics-manufacturing equipment is a plus.
- Hands-on and can-do attitude
- Willingness to take on non-traditional tasks, roles, responsibilities and challenges needed to accomplish company goals and objectives
- 3 years of experience in equipment design and CAD, preferred.

Education/Previous Experience Requirements
- BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and/or Physical Sciences.
- Energetics experience preferred.
- DOD experience preferred.
- 5-7 years’ experience in an energetics-manufacturing environment preferred.
- Self-motivated professional with demonstrated maturity and a good sense of responsibility.
- Good communication skills and high degree of integrity.
- Able to interface and work productively with all employees.
- Ability to read and write English and compute college level mathematics, including statistics.
- Strong interest in pure and applied research to improve product quality and reduce operational costs in all stages of manufacturing.
- Sound ability to analyze data and write technical reports.
