BASIC FUNCTION: The Clinical Dietitian at Grand River Hospital District provides nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy integrated with patients’ medical goals. Evaluates, interprets, monitors and documents the nutritional status and nutritional needs of hospitalized patients, outpatients and residents at our long-term care center using the established Nutrition Care Process, standards of care and practice guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinate of all phases of nutrition care including nutrition assessment, care planning, monitoring, education and counseling of hospitalized patients and outpatients in a variety of settings.
• Creates orders for diet, supplement, enteral/parenteral nutrition and laboratory data per facility policy. 
• Performs duties in support of and in compliance with performance improvement plans, the State of Colorado and other licensing, accrediting, and regulatory agencies.
• Required at times to work flexible hours including on-call, weekend, and evening scheduling.
• Uses the Nutrition Care Process to provide nutritional care to patients in the in-patient/out-patient hospital setting and long-term care.
• Assists Health Education Coaching Director with planning and implementing community education events.
• Patient and community education duties include conducting classes and cooking demonstrations.
• At times works in collaboration with other departments and outside parties to organize and conduct community health initiatives.
• Duties include clerical activities including but not limited to making copies, scheduling, confirming appointments, and entering charges.
• Generates and replies to internal and external correspondence in a variety of formats.
• Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in dietetics or closely related field.
• Maintains Registered Dietitian (RD) status including continuing professional education per the Professional Development Portfolio of the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
• Must have current BLS card within 3 months of initial employment and maintain current status throughout GRHD employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of two years professional experience in a clinical or outpatient setting and long-term care preferred. 
• Interest in or training in Certified Diabetes Education and preferred.

SALARY INFORMATION:

$29.00 - $32.97 hourly dependent on experience

Additional $2.00 - $4.00 an hour for additional weekend and night shifts
