Estimator/Purchaser:
The Estimator is responsible for the accurate takeoff and pricing of the work, including all direct and indirect costs for printing and mail fulfillment needs. Prepare business proposals and estimates for client projects. Utilize data analysis and project management skills to ensure accurate and efficient project estimation.
To provide support for Company personnel by researching and purchasing office supplies and equipment of good quality as inexpensive as possible.
DUTIES & FUNCTIONS:
Estimator:
Oversee and assist with takeoff and pricing of all direct and indirect cost items associated with the project(s), through closeout and submission, all done in full compliance with company processes and procedures.
Manage preparation of the pre-bid schedule.
Review and analyze customer specifications to prepare time and cost estimates for materials, labor, and outside vendor processes.
Manage incoming email and hard copy estimates requests to input into the estimating daily task list as assigned.
Utilize estimating software to create estimates.
Plan jobs using a variety of substrates, coatings, printing, and imaging processes.
Evaluate all methods available for producing a job and provide estimates based on the most economical method and best alternatives.
Consult with appropriate department managers to determine production capabilities and optimal production process.
Develop knowledge of all different papers and materials available, recommend cost saving opportunities when appropriate.
Follow USPS mailing standards and rules in preparing estimates for mailed products, advising sales and customer service on requirements and alternatives to meet standards.
Revise estimates as needed due to specification changes.
Perform job cost analysis and estimate to actual comparisons as required, prepare estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
Consult with sales, vendors, and appropriate personnel to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve production issues.
Use estimating standard work and procedures, assure quality standards and accuracy are met prior to delivering an estimate.
Create inline planning documents for complex projects produced in inline presses, consulting with press department managers to verify standards.
Purchasing:
Responsible for staying abreast of changes and trends in all areas of equipment and office supplies by reading, researching and communicating with vendors. This includes being aware of new technology and cost cutting equipment and any information pertaining to the needs of the company.
Responsible for ordering all supplies and equipment needed by the company, and at all times must operate within the guidelines of the company budget, researching all products for the cost effectiveness.
Maintain inverntory logs, pricing sheets, purchase orders and any other paperwork pertaining to his/her position.
Will provide support for company personnel by dealing directly with salespeople regarding special orders, requests, supplies and equipment.
Must maintain an accurate inventory count and adequate inventory levels so as to best determine when to reorder and how to order to receive the greatest discounts.
