Job Summary
The Office for Disability & Access (ODA) at Oberlin College and Conservatory invites applications for ODA Student Assistant. This is a part-time position reporting to the Departmental Assistant in the ODA at Oberlin College and Conservatory.
The Office for Disability and Access (ODA) facilitates equal access to all programs, courses, services, facilities, and activities provided at Oberlin College while encouraging students to develop self-advocacy. Our office supports Oberlin's long and rich history of recognizing and supporting diversity by providing resources for students with disabilities. ODA supports the Oberlin mission, aiming to include students with disabilities in the diverse and inclusive residential learning environment.
The position offers an educational work experience for students interested in working in a professional setting. Description of work includes but is not limited to, a variety of general office tasks and administrative duties in support of the day-to-day operations of the ODA. As a member of this team, the student must possess the ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality while demonstrating a nimble approach to navigating, performing, and completing the assigned work. Specific instructions will be provided, and work may be reviewed upon completion. However, this position will require the ability to work with some independence.
Requirements include excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, experience with time management, proven organizational skills, and familiarity with computer applications, including word processing and online databases. Applicants must understand office etiquette, exhibit a professional demeanor, be prompt and diligent with attendance, and maintain student confidentiality. Experience working in an office setting is preferred.

Responsibilities
A variety of general office tasks and administrative duties in support of the day-to-day operations of the ODA and the Accommodated Testing Center (ATC), including:
- Receive both external and internal phone calls, manage departmental emails, maintain voicemails and greetings.
- Assist students and faculty as needed with general guidance/instruction on various ODA technology or alternative formats (Bookshare, Glean, Kurzweil, etc.).
- Route calls, emails, and all other communications when appropriate and necessary while maintaining detailed communication logs.
- Help check-in students at the ATC Deliver exams for the ATC.
- Maintain Cleanliness of ATC.
- Be familiar with ATC policies and procedures.
- Greet drop-in traffic of students, parents, faculty, or staff. Explain and/or answer questions about basic policies and procedures within the ODA.
- Participate in campus outreach efforts, such as student panels, workshops, or group interviews, as appropriate.
- Help promote ODA events, disability awareness and social justice, and monitor the ODA social media sites if applicable .
Qualifications
