Drilling Operations Director directs and oversees the drilling, production, and engineering operations for an organization. Oversees all aspects of planning and executing drilling projects, developing oil and gas fields, and analyzing reserves. Being a Drilling Operations Director is responsible for directing revisions or enhancements to troubleshoot and solve drilling problems. May coordinate drilling contractors and production managers/superintendents. Additionally, Drilling Operations Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a top management. The Drilling Operations Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Drilling Operations Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     We are hiring for a Drilling Apprentice to join our team. This position will primarily be responsible for learning how to safely and efficiently maintain and operate a rock drill machine. Apprentices will operate drills all over the Pacific Northwest in the woods, at rock pits, quarries, development sites, and even highway projects. Apprentices may also at times assist the blast crew with loading and unloading explosives from the truck and help carry buckets of crushed stone to stem blast holes. The ideal candidate will be
     physically fit and willing to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be willing to travel and stay out of town when needed.


    McCallum Rock Drilling (MRD) is a rock drilling and blasting contractor based out of Chehalis, WA, that has been in business since 1988. MRD operates in commercial quarries, timberlands and construction sites throughout the Western US.


    Minimum skills and qualifications include: 


    • Valid driver's license with proof of insurance 
    • Able to pass pre-employment drug test 
    • Clean driving record (no more than three moving violations within the last three years)
    • Clean criminal history
    • Reliable transportation to our base shop in Cheney, WA
    • Must have positive attitude and strong work ethic 
    • Must be a team player 
    • Prior construction laborer experience a plus 
    • Willing to work weekends as needed
