Echocardiograph Technician performs echocardiograms in accordance with established practices and procedures. Provides preliminary diagnostic evaluation and notifies cardiologists of results of examinations. Being an Echocardiograph Technician consults with cardiologist to establish requirements for non-standard examinations and determines technical factors to satisfy requirements. Requires an associate degree, and passing the Echocardiography Registry Exam. Additionally, Echocardiograph Technician typically reports to a manager.     In the role of Echocardiograph Technician, this individual will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting echocardiogram results, assist in patient diagnosis and treatment, maintain accurate patient records and documentation, collaborate with physicians, and use advanced ultrasound equipment all while upholding the highest level of patient care and professionalism.

    Ideal qualifications of an Echo Tech include but are not limited to the following:

    • Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Non-Invasive Cardiovascular Technology from an approved and accredited program OR equivalent combination of education, formal training and work experience
    • Ability to perform a complete transthoracic echocardiogram including assessing systolic and diastolic function, and valvular anatomy
    • Knowledge of cardiovascular disease and treatment
    • Knowledge of cardiac noninvasive procedures
    • Effective utilization of oral and written communication skills with staff and the public
    • Ability to report to work regularly, on time, and prepared Proficiency in intravenous line insertion and management
    • ARDMS or CCI certification or within 6 months of hire
    • OBMI licensure per “C” Classification Specifications
