Economist (Corporate) conducts research and analysis on economic data/trends and produces forecasts, interpretive reporting, and media used for risk assessment, communication, and decision making. Collects economic data from established datasets and other sources utilizing data collection and data science protocols. Being an Economist (Corporate) utilizes statistical analysis, mathematical methodologies, and modeling techniques to develop data. Designs and organizes data into unique report models and graphical illustrations to present economic information used for decision making and solution development. Additionally, Economist (Corporate) requires a bachelor's degree in economics or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Economist (Corporate) occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Position Summary:
    Aevum Home Health and its affiliated 15 assisted living facilities in San Luis Obispo County are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Controller to oversee the financial health and operations of our growing organizations. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in financial management, accounting, and strategic planning to ensure operational efficiency and compliance. Candidates with a CPA certification are strongly preferred.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Financial Management & Reporting:

    • Oversee all financial activities, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting for Aevum Home Health and 15 assisted living facilities.
    • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other applicable financial regulations.
    • Provide financial analysis and strategic recommendations to the executive team to support business goals.

    Accounting Operations:

    • Supervise the accounting team and manage daily accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
    • Monitor and reconcile all financial transactions and accounts.
    • Develop and enforce internal financial controls and policies to safeguard assets.
    • Oversee annual audits and manage relationships with external auditors.

    Budgeting & Forecasting:

    • Lead the development of annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts.
    • Monitor budget performance and analyze variances, providing recommendations to optimize financial outcomes.
    • Collaborate with department heads to ensure alignment with organizational financial goals.

    Regulatory Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to healthcare and assisted living facilities.
    • Oversee tax filings, including sales tax, property tax, and income tax returns.
    • Maintain knowledge of industry trends and regulatory changes to adjust strategies as needed.

    Strategic Planning & Leadership:

    • Contribute to strategic business decisions by providing financial insights and guidance.
    • Support mergers, acquisitions, and other growth initiatives by conducting financial due diligence and integration planning.
    • Mentor and develop the AR and AP team to build a high-performing department.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
    • CPA certification strongly preferred.
    • Minimum of 5 years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in healthcare or senior living industries, real-estate, or hotel/service industries.
    • In-depth knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance.
    • Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., QuickBooks, ERP systems).
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams.

    Working Conditions:

    • Full-time, on-site position based in San Luis Obispo County.
    • Some travel between facilities may be required.
