Parental Involvement Specialist
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Education or related field.
- Experience working with state level federal programs.
- Recent experience in Title I parental involvement, preferred; experience in the last two years due to extensive changes in the requirements of parental involvement, preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of current federal and state parent involvement compliance statutes, policies, and procedures, preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate competent communication skills, to include speaking effectively with individuals and groups, and writing effective communication materials.
- Ability to work well with students, parents, staff, and the community.
- High integrity, excellent character, and good professional reputation. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to be regularly, reliably, and predictably at work.

REPORTS TO: Principal/Assigned Central Office Director
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the system’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the system.
REQUIRED DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish and maintain favorable relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for Dothan City Schools.
- Assist in coordinating and conducting recruitment and enrollment procedures for Dothan City Schools.
- Provide Parental Involvement Professionals technical assistance on strategies to assist parents in helping students achieve academically.
- Manage weekly schedules for Parent Involvement Professionals.
- Oversee the school’s Parent Resource Center.
- Maintain accurate and current documentation of all program activities.
- Provide information and activities designed to improve communication with parents.
- Assist in planning and implementing parent/teacher/student activities.
- Provide schools technical assistance on writing parent compacts and school policies.
- Assist District Director in the preparation of reports and all requirements appropriate to the school, family, and community partnership.
- Maintain accurate and current documentation of all program activities.
- Provide information and activities designed to improve communication with parents.
- Assist schools in scheduling and making home visits to assist and advise parents in social service needs, and education needs.
- Assist in planning and implementing parent/teacher/student activities.
- Coordinate parent involvement activities for all private school parents as required.
- Coordinate parent involvement activities for all migrant families as required.
- Participate in (as required) lead school assessments, program meetings, and planning sessions to help identify student, family, and community needs that directly impact the academic, social, physical, mental, emotional, and general success of children and teens.
- Cooperatively work together with school leaders, other parent involvement specialist, teachers, students, and parents to effectively implement program activities.
- Maintain confidentiality of information and records regarding children and families.
- Personally, supervise and coordinate programming for students, families, and the community both during and beyond the traditional school day.
- Prepare special reports as requested by District Director.
- Assist the District Director in the preparation of reports and all requirements appropriate to the School/Family/Community Partnership.
- Develop, implement, and maintain school part/Community Engagement Plan.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on the evaluation of personnel.
