Job Title: Database Administrator – Teradata RDBMS Specialist 

Job Description: 

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Teradata Database Administrator to join our team. As a Teradata Database Administrator, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, tuning, and maintaining Teradata databases and processes within our Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW). Your expertise will contribute to the performance, security, and scalability of our data infrastructure. This position requires a deep understanding of Teradata systems, database design principles, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. 

Responsibilities: 

– Review and analyze database models and proposals to ensure optimal design and efficiency. 

– Perform the final physical implementation of all Teradata databases and processes in the EDW environment. 

– Monitor and ensure hardware and database availability, taking proactive steps to mitigate potential disruptions. 

– Execute performance monitoring and tuning activities to optimize database performance and improve query response times. 

– Coordinate and implement database changes, identifying and resolving constraints to ensure smooth integration. 

– Develop, test, and deploy changes to the Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) in alignment with business needs. 

– Maintain production Data Definition Language (DDL) and Data Control Language (DCL) to ensure data integrity and security. 

– Tune databases and Teradata system components to improve overall performance and efficiency. 

– Implement and maintain security measures to safeguard the Teradata environment and its data. 

– Track capacity usage and plan for future growth to accommodate evolving data requirements. 

– Develop and utilize Teradata utilities to troubleshoot and diagnose database-related issues. 

– Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide technical support and guidance on database-related matters. 

– Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in Teradata administration and database management. 

Qualifications: 

– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. 

– Certified Teradata Master certification is required. 

– Security certification is required. 

– National Agency Check Legal and Credit (NACLC) or Secret Clearance is required. 

– Proven experience as a Teradata Database Administrator, including design, implementation, and performance tuning. 

– Strong understanding of database design principles, data modeling, and SQL optimization. 

– Proficiency in executing performance monitoring and tuning techniques to enhance database performance. 

– Experience with database change management, including coordination and resolution of constraints. 

– Knowledge of Data Definition Language (DDL) and Data Control Language (DCL) for maintaining data integrity and security. 

– Ability to develop and deploy RDBMS changes in alignment with business requirements. 

– Skilled in using Teradata utilities for troubleshooting and problem-solving. 

– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues. 

– Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
