Enterprise Infrastructure Director manages and coordinates the information systems that will adequately support the organization's enterprise infrastructure. Monitors and manages all IT infrastructure projects to meet company and client needs. Being an Enterprise Infrastructure Director determines current and future enterprise infrastructure needs, ensuring the scalability of infrastructure design to handle expected growth. Implements policies and procedures to maintain, enhance, and secure an organization's technology infrastructure. Additionally, Enterprise Infrastructure Director is responsible for monitoring the systems to ensure the highest level of infrastructure performance. May assist in network interface planning, hardware resource availability, and the development of new applications. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Enterprise Infrastructure Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Enterprise Infrastructure Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Note about the salary: The salary listed does not include a 3% General Wage increase effective 7/1/2024.

    Please Note: This position will operate in a hybrid setting (telework eligible) and the Engineer should be able to work in the office at least one (1) day per week. Projects, urgent workloads, and on-site events may necessitate additional days at the office. The working schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 8 A.M to 5 P.M. However, evening and weekend work may be required during project implementations and for urgent issues. This position is required to participate in an on-call rotation. Alternative scheduling will be considered, and the required schedule may vary based on the needs of the agency.

    What you will be doing:
    As a Systems and Infrastructure Engineer within our team, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation of essential services for the Department of Enterprise Services (DES) and its wide-ranging customer base across the State of Washington. Working within a dynamic technical team, you'll serve as both a subject matter expert and a professional consultant, guiding the agency and its customers through complex technical challenges. Your responsibilities will encompass everything from supporting the transition of servers and applications to modern cloud platforms to resolving intricate performance issues across our hybrid infrastructure. You'll also be instrumental in designing and maintaining highly available, secure networks that underpin critical applications. With advanced skills in automation, identity management, and system analysis, you'll contribute to the optimization and advancement of our infrastructure and services, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of our stakeholders. Additionally, you'll collaborate closely with management and cross-functional teams to implement impactful decisions and initiatives, further solidifying our position as a leader in technology and service delivery within the public sector.

    Some of what you’ll enjoy doing includes:
    • Implements, maintains, and supports on-premise and cloud Nutanix infrastructure.
    • Develops project plans and implements network upgrades, new system installs, and disaster recovery strategies.
    • Provides high-level expertise for network infrastructure and system support.
    • Aligns automation priorities with IT strategies, testing and demonstrating automated tools.
    • Designs complex storage configurations using Linux commands for unstructured data and application files.
    • Resolves OS and application system problems using Splunk insights and centralized management tools.
    • Implements configuration changes on servers, storage, and cloud systems using management tools.
    • Mitigates system risks by proactively updating virtual hosts, servers, and infrastructure appliances.
    • Conducts testing and analyzes system issues, creating automated processes using scripting tools.
    • Participates in on-site maintenance and deployment tasks, including on-call rotation.
    • Manages security for systems such as Genetec and Metasys HVAC through auditing and application port security.
    • Other duties as needed.
    Required Qualifications:
    To be eligible for this position, a candidate must also possess one (1) of the following education and experience options: 

    [OPTION 1]: 
    • Four (4) years of information technology experience that includes demonstrated hands on experience of installing and maintaining on premise virtual server hosts and SAN systems. This experience must include the ability to perform root cause analysis on multiple network on-prem and cloud platforms, and work with Windows Domain environment; AND
    • Two (2) years of demonstrated experience with Azure cloud platform such as: Hybrid Active Directory, PowerShell, Azure CLI, Azure Virtual Machine, Azure Storage, Azure Networking. This must include experience in hybrid cloud deployments and migrations; analyzing, researching, and recommending disposition of software; and hardware resources in a hybrid cloud environment.
    [OPTION 2]:
    • Associate's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related technical/business discipline OR an equivalent two (2) years of vocational training in a technical field; AND
    • Two (2) years of information technology experience that includes demonstrated hands on experience of installing and maintaining on premise virtual server hosts and SAN systems. This experience must include the ability to perform root cause analysis on multiple network on-prem and cloud platforms, and work with Windows Domain environment;  AND
    • Two (2) years of demonstrated experience with Azure cloud platform such as: Hybrid Active Directory, PowerShell, Azure CLI, Azure Virtual Machine, Azure Storage, Azure Networking. This must include experience in hybrid cloud deployments and migrations; analyzing, researching, and recommending disposition of software; and hardware resources in a hybrid cloud environment.
    [OPTION 3]: 
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems or related technical/business discipline; AND
    • Two (2) years of information technology experience that includes demonstrated hands on experience of installing and maintaining on premise virtual server hosts and SAN systems. This experience must include the ability to perform root cause analysis on multiple network on-prem and cloud platforms, and work with Windows Domain environment; AND
    • Two (2) years of demonstrated experience with Azure cloud platform such as: Hybrid Active Directory, PowerShell, Azure CLI, Azure Virtual Machine, Azure Storage, Azure Networking. This must include experience in hybrid cloud deployments and migrations; analyzing, researching, and recommending disposition of software; and hardware resources in a hybrid cloud environment.
