Environmental Services Coordinator coordinates and maintains company policies adhering to local, state and federal environmental, health and safety regulations. Inspects the work areas and work procedures and makes environmental, health and safety recommendations accordingly. Being an Environmental Services Coordinator maintains and updates environmental policy and procedure manuals. Ensures compliance with and trains employees on all environmental, health and safety regulations, and keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization. Additionally, Environmental Services Coordinator requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. To be an Environmental Services Coordinator typically requires 4 to 7 years of related experience. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project.     Environmental Coordinator

    The Environmental Coordinator coordinates environmental policies, workplace inspections and implements programs to monitor compliance with environmental regulations.

     

    Essential Job Duties:

    • Assists in determining proper disposal technologies for identified waste materials.
    • Prepares purchase orders and obtains quotes for identified hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal waste streams.
    • Assures all hazardous/universal waste is labeled, weighed, and stored according to 40 CFR 262 Subpart C requirements and assure all nonhazardous waste is labeled properly.
    • Assists with the loading of hazardous and nonhazardous waste for shipping and escorting onsite collection of waste by vendors and assures manifests are delivered to the Director of EH&S.
    • Assists Director of EH&S with permit management and implementation
    • Assesses potential environmental risks and develop mitigation plans.
    • Assists coordination of corrective action for compliance deficiencies
    • Conducts employee orientation and training in environmental responsibilities.
    • Completes the hazardous waste weekly inspections and scheduling of waste disposal.
    • Maintains all environmental records for facility regulatory permits.
    • Assists Director of EH&S with material recordkeeping and storage oversight.
    • Acts as an alternate Emergency Coordinator assisting in any spill clean-up or any other emergency condition.
    • Interprets Safety Data Sheets, maintains lists, and performs data entry from SDS.
    • Attends annual HAZWOPER, RCRA, and DOT.
    • Acts as an alternate Emergency Coordinator assisting in any spill clean-up or any other emergency condition.

     

    Secondary Duties:

    Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the Director EH&S.

     

    Accountabilities:

    Accountable to the Director EH&S in all daily functions.

     

    Job Qualifications:

    Minimum:

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Read, write and understand the English language.
    • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams.
    • Must have good written and oral communication skills.
    • Must be a self-starter, able to independently manage themselves.
    • Must work with confidential data and assure it is safeguarded to protect the integrity of the company.
    • Must be able to read and understand Safety Data Sheets (SDSs).
    • Must be able to secure and maintain certification as a hazardous material technician in accordance with 40 CFR       265.16 within the first ninety (90) days of employment.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license.

     

    Preferred:

    • 1 to 3 years of experience in environmental work preferred.
    • Current certification of Hazardous Material Incident Response, DOT and RCRA training.
    • Experience managing and interpreting Safety Data Sheets.

     

    Physical Requirements:

      • Normal or corrected hearing is required.
      • Normal or corrected vision is required along with the ability to distinguish color.
      • Duties require typical/bending stooping, reaching, stretching, climbing stairs, etc. handling supplies and equipment weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.       
      • A normal range pulmonary functions test is required and physiological determination of the ability to wear a respirator and other safety equipment as necessary.
      • Possible exposure to inclement weather.
