Endemic Environmental Services, Inc is seeking to fill a Biological Field Monitor position in San Luis Obispo, CA. Responsibilities for Biological Field Monitor include:
Responsibilities
Conduct construction compliance monitoring
Perform biological monitoring for nesting birds and other special status species
Conduct nesting bird surveys
Produce daily reports
Ensure client compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations
Maintain regular and punctual attendance at work and meetings.
Travel for out-of-town projects as needed
Work Location: Field sites in multiple locations across, San Luis Obispo County, Santa Barbara County, Ventura County, Kern County.
Hours can include night work and weekends
Job Requirements (Mandatory)
Degree in biology, natural resource management, environmental studies or similar
2 years of experience as a professional biologist, including a minimum of one year of experience with an environmental consulting firm.
Experience monitoring bird nests
Walk in a variety of uneven surfaces and slopes
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Work in a variety of outdoor weather conditions
Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
Valid Driver’s License, Personal Vehicle, and Vehicle Insurance
Preferred Experience
Familiarity with ESRI GIS applications (including desktop, ArcGIS, Field Maps, Survey123, etc.)
Manage work assignments with team members, troubleshoot in the field
Experience nesting bird surveys
Plant and plant community identification skills for species common to California
Experience working with construction/utility companies
Survey experience with any of the following species: BNLL, southwestern willow flycatcher, Ridgway’s rail, and yellow billed cuckoo, Burrowing Owl, Kit Fox, rare plants, and any other listed species.
Strong technical report writing skills
Prior experience working in California, Utah, Arizona, or Nevada
