Event Planner jobs in Chicago, IL

E
Wedding Planner aka Love Story Teller
  • Event Shoppe Chicago
  • Chicago, IL FULL_TIME
  • The Event Shoppe Chicago is a team of expert wedding planners who help quirky couples realize their non-traditional wedding dreams—through time-saving wedding-planning and styling offerings and top-shelf service. With a focus on storytelling through styling—and a knack for curating meaningful details that ring true to each couple we serve—we create extraordinary event experiences. Do you like extraordinary experiences? If the answer is “hell yes” then I think you should keep reading!

You're thinking to yourself “this might be a job I don’t mind going to on Monday mornings”, well for one we don’t typically work on Mondays, so there's that! Before you get to excited there are a few things you should know about our Brand

    A Little About our Brand

    • Work hard, play hard is a core value of mine. Work should be fun and also efficient.
    • Our brand is growing... fast. We are constantly raising the cap on how many couples we can successfully manage. This will be a fun role, but you have to be down for the ride.
    • We love to keep our finger on the wedding industry pulse! Staying in tune with current and new trends, keeping up with rising florist and caterers, and of course new and fancy cocktails.
    • Our couples are worried about hosting a wedding that’s normal, trendy, or “just another wedding.” They don’t want to end up with a celebration that misrepresents them—or one that doesn’t stand out from the masses. They’re worried their wedding will be forgotten, full of unimportant details, and free from any significant meaning.

Still Catching what I'm throwing? Good, a few housekeeping things.

This is a Part Time employee hourly position in Chicago, IL, estimated to work 20-30 hours a week based on your caseload. You will have the option for Full Time as the company grows.

You will have access to our West Loop work space (including conference rooms for client meetings) if leaving your house to work is important. I’m sure your cat is cute, but also annoying some days. You can also work from home but please note we do have monthly in person team meetings. We ask that you select one evening during the week for client meetings.

You will work weekends (because that’s most often when people get married) but feel free to never work a Monday again. Our system is set up to prevent you from working back to back weddings in one weekend.

Pay will range from $20-$25 per hour (based on experience and skill set). You will enjoy benefits like 5 paid holidays, paid professional development, and personal days. Experience working in customer service or hospitality is a plus and would be great for this position.

“This is making my heart flutter…What do you need from me?”

As a wedding planner with Event Shoppe Chicago you are the frontline to all the couples preparing for one of the biggest days of their lives. You will oversee and execute couple fulfillment and keep them on track with planning. Overseeing their wedding details and acting as the liaison to their wedding vendors. Think Phil Jackson of the 97’ Bulls. You are the leader that keeps all the star vendors on task to produce a championship wedding. Here are some things you can expect to manage:

    THE COUPLE PLANNING PROCESS

    • Manage around 20-30 weddings a calendar year. This number is determined by the different levels of packages couples book.
    • Onboarding new couples to our established planning process.
    • Edit or update the process based on the couple’s needs.
    • Ensuring they follow the process. Keeping them on track is key to our success!
    • Have monthly phone calls and in person client meetings
    • Supply Vendor Recommendations
    • Make wedding etiquette recommendations
    • Assist couples with styling their wedding day

    VENDOR RELATIONSHIPS

    • Shoppe the Chicago area for the dopest wedding vendors around. This may require doing fun things with them like going to networking events, happy hour, or meeting them for coffee.
    • Ensure vendors have what they need to make your couple’s wedding day an ultimate success
    • Supporting vendors the day of the wedding when needed. No, you won't be lifting DJ equipment. Maybe just helping them find a dolly to make their life easier.

    ADMINISTRATIVE TASK

    • Emailing couples updates and check ins based on the provided schedule.
    • Google Drive upkeep.
    • Making proper notes for their wedding day.
    • Creating and executing a extremely detailed wedding day timeline and VIP timeline from our templates.
    • Follow our standard operating procedures.
