Basic Function
HF Sinclair Puget Sound Refining, located in Anacortes, Washington is seeking a Safety / Emergency Response Specialist. The Safety / Emergency Response Specialist is responsible for driving the Organization’s Safety and Emergency Response culture, knowledge, compliance and assurance through knowledge of the work processes and implementation of the job duties below.
Job Duties
Ensures transparent and accurate reporting.
Ensures area of responsibility is in regulatory compliance and leads or assists if gap closers are necessary.
Develops Front Line Leaders into Safety Leaders.
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
Experience
A minimum of 10 years' experience in Plant Production, Maintenance Turnaround, Projects, Safety, or associated Technical Field.
Education Level
A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
PREFERRED EDUCATIONAL LEVEL :
Specialized Emergency Response Training (i.e. Hazmat Technician (NFPA 472), Industrial Exterior Fire Brigade Training (NFPA 1081))
Professional Certification : ASP / CSP, CIH
Required Skills
The Safety / ER Specialist must demonstrate the following skills : Collaborative behaviors, self-motivation, interpersonal, and open communication skills.
Positive attitude and willingness to support the Health, Safety, and Emergency Response team. Demonstrate calmness and courage in emergency events.
Knowledge of Life Saving Rules, HollyFrontier Group HSSE, Social Performance (SP), Control Framework, AMS, Code of Conduct, and Plant Standing Instructions with demonstrated ability to intervene as needed with this knowledge.
Have regulatory knowledge of Safety and ER along with knowledge of policies, procedures, and practices. This position is expected to demonstrate a high level of honesty, integrity and follow the chain of command in the performance of their duties.
Safety / ER Specialists are expected to understand and comply with all requirements for ensuring their own safety and to be a role model for employees.
This includes intervention when required with anyone at any level in the organization. They must help drive a culture of continuous improvement in personal safety and emergency response.
Additionally, they are expected to ensure that safety requirements are clearly understood and followed throughout the organization.
Supervisory / Managerial Responsibility
May direct or lead the work of others from time-to-time.
Work Conditions
Office based, field based and, with travel up to 30% of the time by land or air is required. Petroleum refinery, and out-of-door environments, including, but not limited to chemicals, pressure vessels, tanks and rotating equipment, fumes or airborne particles and loud noises and vibrations.
Required to work in all temperatures including outdoors and confined spaces. Subject to varying road and weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
Job conditions require standing, walking, sitting, twisting, stooping, crouching, kneeling, talking or hearing, making visual inspections, making precise hand & finger movements, reaching and grasping, lifting and / or carrying up to 25 lbs.
pushing and / or pulling up to 15 lbs. and climbing up to 50 ft., ability to wear personal protective equipment and strenuous physical activity.
