Facilities Director manages the maintenance, construction, repair, and refurbishment operations of one or more facilities or properties. Implements policies and procedures that ensure the optimal functioning of buildings, grounds, and associated equipment. Being a Facilities Director monitors daily building operations of all systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety, and waste management to ensure reliability. Tracks work orders for quality, adherence to service standards, and budgeted guidelines. Additionally, Facilities Director directs training of managers, supervisors, and employees in best practices for maintenance work, service and safety standards, and local laws and regulations. Oversees vendors or contractors engaged for construction projects. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Facilities Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. The St. Johnsbury School District (STJSD) serves more than 1,000 students, Pre-K through 8th grade and tuition our high school students to several area public and independent high schools. We are looking for a Facilities Director.
Job Summary:
The Facilities Director will maintain oversight of the physical plants, buildings and grounds of the St. Johnsbury School District. He/she ensures compliance with all applicable statutes, regulations, and codes. In collaboration with the School Board, Superintendent, and Principal develops and implements a rotating five-year Facilities Plan and a Capital Improvement Plan including budgeting needs for School Board approval. Supervises and evaluates the Custodial & Maintenance Staff.
General Responsibilities:
Coordinates and carries out the installation, maintenance and repair of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures; and/or plumbing and heating systems and to assist with other mechanical systems and general building maintenance tasks as needed. Also plans, directs, coordinates and oversees all functions pertaining to the operation and maintenance of equipment and vehicles.
