    Team:  

    As a Facilities Mechanical Engineer (MEP), you connect various internal technical teams to define facilities requirements and develop solutions and will be our owner’s representative to outside facing consultants, contractors, and government agencies. You will be responsible for the design of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing for launch facilities and will be responsible for the development of construction drawings, request for proposals, competitive bidding, bid evaluations, sub-contractor selections, and sub-contractor management for launch sites and supporting facilities across Relativity’s real estate portfolio.

    As a Facilities Mechanical Engineer (MEP) at Relativity, you will be at the forefront of creating a world class orbital launch site. You enjoy working with teams and are able to work autonomously to ensure project completionYou have a strong background in plumbing, field engineering, construction engineering, and electrical engineering, mechanical engineer, and you have a passion for taking ideas and designs and making them become a reality in the built environmentYou are a learner and doer at heart, who continuously engages across technical and operations teams to achieve amazing outcomes. 

    What you need to know:  

    • Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering or other related engineering field.  
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in the construction industry working with mechanical, electrical, or plumbing systems, hands-on field experience, project management, and project execution. 
    • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems design 
    • Experience with HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems 
    • Knowledge of electrical power distribution systems.    
    • Familiarity with plumbing and fire protection systems. 
    • Experience with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software. 
    • Experience with design documentation, construction drawings, construction bid solicitation, contractor selection, construction management, field superintendent, permitting, QA/QC  
    • Interface with users to collect facilities requirements (layouts, equipment cutsheets, utility requirements) 
    • Facilitate design review meetings with design consultants. 
    • Engineering in Training (EIT) 
    • Excellent working knowledge of NFPA 70 and NFPA 70E 
    • Demonstrated customer service excellence and ability to communicate highly effectively in verbal/written form with internal and external customers 
    • Must have strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment 
    • High organizational skills in managing multiple projects simultaneously 
    • Ability to perform and manage technically complex projects using independent judgment and personal initiative 

    Nice to haves but not required:  

    • Professional Engineer (PE) license 
    • Advanced degree in Engineering 
    • MEP Design experience 
    • Familiarity with process piping 
    • Experience with medium voltage power conditioning and motor drives
