General Family Counsellor (part time contract position)
Viking/Beaver Family and Community Support Services (VBFCSS); Viking, AB
VBFCSS is a key provider of preventative social services in the east portion of Beaver County, having provided supports in this area for more than 40 years. Our organizational mission is to develop services and perform activities which strengthen the family and community, create conditions which foster social well-being, and enable groups and individuals to take positive actions to meet their own social and personal needs. Currently, we are recruiting a General Family Counsellor to join our team!
Responsibilities:
· Provide direct counselling services to individuals, couples, and families who present with issues including but not limited to stress, anxiety, coping difficulties, anger management, marital problems, separation/divorce, family/parenting issues, grief and loss, post traumatic stress, intergenerational issues, and farming and rural issues.
· Maintain appropriate, confidential client files
· Make appropriate referrals to additional community programs if required.
· Provide feedback to the Viking/Beaver FCSS Governance Board in regards to the General Family Counselling program in the form of regular written reports.
·Assess rate at which clients will be billed for services and collect fees.
Qualifications:
· A Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, Clinical Social Work or equivalent, two years experience in a related responsible position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
·Ability to employ a strength-based, anti-oppressive, client-centred approach while working with others across differences.
·Registration with the appropriate professional association related to degree.
·Maintenance of appropriate practice liability insurance.
·High standards of competence, knowledge and judgement in matters of jurisprudence and ethics.
· Ability to work independently with little supervision and as part of a team.
·Must possess a valid Alberta’s Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.
Term:
·One day a week starting immediately. This is a one-year contract position with the possibility of extension.
