Fashion Designer is responsible for executing the fashion design strategy for an organization. Creates and manages multiple fashion design projects from conceptualization to finished product and ensures projects are aligned with the brand's identity. Being a Fashion Designer presents design concepts and ideas to internal stakeholders. Effectively communicates design details to the product development and production teams. Additionally, Fashion Designer determines final style, material, and color based on input from sales/marketing, merchandising, development, and manufacturing teams. We are seeking a talented and creative Fashion Designer with solid pattern making, and sewing skills and experience in RTW fashion apparel to join our team for a 1 month contract. You will be responsible for creating several playful RTW designs for womXn in their 20s and 30s-ish (think top and bottom combos) for our new in-house fashion line. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your skills and contribute to the launch of our mission-driven brand! This will be a small batch, bespoke collection that we will release on social media for exclusive 'daily drops' and the production process will form part of our digital storytelling.
Duties
- Develop and create original design concepts for clothing and accessories
- Use CAD software to create detailed technical drawings and specifications
- Conduct market research to identify current trends and consumer preferences
- Collaborate with the marketing team to discover local textile merchants and unique design techniques
- You will have exceptional sewing skills, both hand stitching and machine-use, and be confident sewing with silks, cotton voile, linens and light wool
- Utilize graphic design software, such as Adobe Illustrator, to create digital renderings of designs
- Participate in fittings and make necessary adjustments to garments
- Be confident and open to recording your work station and the production process, as we are delivering this limited batch collection for social media 'drops'
Experience
- Proven experience as a Fashion Designer with a portfolio of illustrations and completed garments to demonstrate
- Strong knowledge of fashion retail industry trends and consumer preferences
- Proficient in using CAD software for technical drawings
- Familiarity with garment construction techniques and sewing machine operation
- Ideally, graphic design skills using software such as Adobe Illustrator
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high-quality standards
