Field Engineering Manager - Construction supervises on-site technical oversight activities to provide engineering guidance and monitoring for construction projects. Monitors construction progress and conducts daily site inspections to ensure work complies with time, budget, quality, safety, and regulatory requirements. Being a Field Engineering Manager - Construction enforces quality control procedures and inspection protocols to ensure that standards, designs, blueprints, and specifications are understood and followed. Troubleshoots technical issues that arise on-site and consults with architects, contractors, and supervisors to develop and implement solutions with minimal disruption to project schedules. Additionally, Field Engineering Manager - Construction documents construction activities using logs, progress, and inspection reports and regularly updates status to project managers. Procures and coordinates any additional resources required to support field engineering activities. Attends project meetings to provide technical input and recommend improving construction processes. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Typically reports to a manager. The Field Engineering Manager - Construction supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Field Engineering Manager - Construction typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Acts as a main point of contact throughout the engineering, scheduling and construction processes for residential, commercial and industrial customers. Performs all activities required to initiate and design cost effective, solutions for internal/external customer requests for engineering services. Interfaces with district resources to meet customer in-service dates, including coordination with other utilities and contractors. Performs outage evaluation in emergency restoration efforts. Maintains accurate GIS system data.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree in engineering technology or related field OR the equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
Experience demonstrating skill reading and interpreting construction plans, engineering drawings, etc.
Experience demonstrating skill using PC-based word processing, spreadsheet and e-mail software to perform work functions (for example, communicate with others, create and modify letters, perform calculations).
Ability and willingness to work in a variety of work environments including all weather conditions, on and/or around energized electrical equipment and in dirty environments.
Ability and willingness to wear and use safety equipment as required by Federal, State, Local and Company regulations.
Ability and willingness to adhere to safety regulations and policies.
Ability and willingness to travel to various Company locations and work sites.
Ability and willingness to work overtime, holidays and weekends on an occasional basis.
Must successfully pass qualification tests.
Must possess a valid driver's license.
This position is a NERC Regulated position. As such, a background check will be conducted on incumbent every seven years. Additionally, the incumbent will be required to complete annual NERC compliance training.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience demonstrating knowledge of the fundamentals of electricity.
Experience demonstrating skill using GIS and/or WMIS (work management information system) to perform work functions (for example, create sketches, maintain accurate data, update the status of projects, create job instructions).
Experience demonstrating skill initiating and designing engineering solutions for internal and external customer requests.
Experience demonstrating skill providing customer service (for example, interacting with customers, responding to customer inquiries over the telephone, in writing and/or in-person).
Experience demonstrating skill interfacing and coordinating with other departments, companies, and contractors.
Experience demonstrating skill preparing and modifying contract agreements and cost letters.
Experience demonstrating skill performing outage evaluation in emergency restoration efforts.
Experience demonstrating skill setting up billing terms and/or processing payments received.
