Field Service Engineer provides on-site support and technical assistance with various products or equipment. Installs, configures, troubleshoots, and maintains products/equipment. Being a Field Service Engineer identifies, analyzes, and repairs product failures. Orders and replaces parts as needed. Additionally, Field Service Engineer develops detailed service reports to document service visits, issues, and troubleshooting actions and logs and tracks maintenance activities. Answers basic customer questions about product features. May provide some customer training. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Field Service Engineer work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. Reviews turnaround/shutdown proposal or plan to determine time frame, budgets, procedures for accomplishing work scopes, and resource requirements. Develops and supports start-up / commissioning safety plans and procedures, assures conformance to company guidelines and practices as required. Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems Coordinates and/or attends design, construction, start-up, commissioning, and qualification meetings. Lead responsibility over turnover/shutdown field engineers. Functions as a technical specialist. Assures effective utilization of resources, and technical quality. Qualifications BS in an engineering or construction discipline preferred or 5-10 years’ experience in planning and scheduling construction and maintenance turnarounds/shutdowns. Five years in supervisory position Strong computer skills, experience with construction and/or maintenance planning and scheduling software is required. Eight years of Field experience is required.
