Financial Systems Manager manages a team of analysts responsible for the implementation and administration of the organization's financial systems. Oversees the daily operations of the department. Being a Financial Systems Manager researches financial record-keeping and reporting requirements, and ensures that systems are modified to meet these requirements. Creates processes and procedures to ensure best practices for financial systems are used throughout the organization. Additionally, Financial Systems Manager trains departmental staff as needed. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Financial Systems Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Financial Systems Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The University of Southern Maine invites applications for a Financial Manager. With the recent completion of the McGoldrick Center for Career and Student Success, and the upcoming Center for the Arts, it’s an exciting time to be a part of USM’s campus transformation and a community that truly believes in its service promise to be Student Focused Every Day.

    The Financial Manager is responsible for the financial management of the Division of Student Affairs; Enrollment Management, Marketing and Student Retention; Office of Equity, Inclusion and Community Impact; and Public Safety. The Financial Manager advises the Vice Presidents and senior leadership on financial strategy, budget development, and policy. This oversees all unrestricted and restricted funds and is responsible for understanding, implementing, and overseeing System and University financial policies, practices, and procedures. Under the direction of the Vice Presidents for the respective areas, the Financial Manager authorizes expenditures within the overall division budgets and is authorized to negotiate financial matters with University staff and external contacts. The Financial Manager is also responsible for oversight management and collaboration with soft-money funded centers as assigned.

    Qualifications:
    • A Bachelor’s degree and four years of relevant experience, or Masters degree and two years of relevant experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, including presentation skills.
    • Experience working both independently and collaboratively with various levels.
