FIRE CAPTAIN manages a team of firefighters. Ensures all equipment is properly maintained and serviced. Being a FIRE CAPTAIN directs training and conditioning activities. Administers the staff work schedule to ensure adequate coverage. Additionally, FIRE CAPTAIN leads and coordinates responses to fire events, hazardous material incidents, auto accidents, and search and rescue operations. Prepares post-incident reports as required. Leads or coordinates fire safety education and inspection activities. Typically is required to pass periodic physical ability tests. May require registry in NREMT. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science. Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a manager. The FIRE CAPTAIN manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a FIRE CAPTAIN typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     We are seeking an experienced and professional Fire Alarm Estimator with excellent communication skills to write proposals, cost estimates, and detailed takeoffs on our Fire Alarm Installation projects. The ideal candidate will have 2 years of experience in the Construction or Fire Alarm industry, preferably in sales, estimating or project management.

    OBJECTIVES

    • Seek project opportunities by contacting developers, general contractors, to be added to the upcoming projects to bid and invited to job walks.
    • Identify growth opportunities and target potential clients through various channels, including online platforms, industry events, and referrals
    • Build and nurture strong relationships with existing and potential clients
    • Present our services and solutions to clients, highlighting our unique value proposition
    • Maintains detailed reports of sales activities and pipeline including calls, orders, sales, lost business, and any customer or vendor relationship problems.
    • Evaluate RFP requests for proposal specifications, blueprints, and construction documents to understand the project as a whole
    • Manage the process to ensure that all customer proposals are submitted accurately and meet the deadline.
    • Estimate time, labor, construction materials, and product costs to determine overall cost for construction projects.
    • Produce written proposals, cost estimates, budgets, and updates for clients and project managers
    • Work closely with the construction project manager and design team to oversee and coordinate the bid process for vendors and subcontractors
    • Act as a customer liaison to follow up on quotes to secure new business and ensure that all project plans and timelines are in alignment with management and client expectations
    • Provide accurate and clear quantity takeoff information to provide a detailed list of materials and assess the total construction costs
    • Request vendor material quotes pertaining to the project.
    • Maintain all vendor relationships to ensure accuracy pricing.
    • Respond to RFI’s and schedules
    • Work with leadership to ensure that proposals are accurate as far as cost (labor hours) vs proposed.

    • Self-motivated and results-driven with a passion for exceeding sales targets.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam/Adobe Acrobat
    • Perform take-offs accurately and efficiently

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Minimum 2 years experience in Fire Alarm Industry required
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in the construction industry - project estimating or construction management required
    • Proven experience in sales, preferably in the Fire Alarm or construction industry
    • Bachelors’ degree in engineering, business, construction management, or equivalent work experience is preferred
    • Knowledge in fire alarm systems, two-way, and BDA systems
    • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
    • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
    • Perform work with OSHA required PPE as needed
