FIRE CAPTAIN manages a team of firefighters. Ensures all equipment is properly maintained and serviced. Being a FIRE CAPTAIN directs training and conditioning activities. Administers the staff work schedule to ensure adequate coverage. Additionally, FIRE CAPTAIN leads and coordinates responses to fire events, hazardous material incidents, auto accidents, and search and rescue operations. Prepares post-incident reports as required. Leads or coordinates fire safety education and inspection activities. Typically is required to pass periodic physical ability tests. May require registry in NREMT. Typically requires an associate degree in fire science. Requires Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic. Typically reports to a manager. The FIRE CAPTAIN manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a FIRE CAPTAIN typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Summary

    Kistler O’Brien Fire Protection is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Systems Installation Technician with programming, commissioning, troubleshooting capabilities. This position will work closely with the Project Management Team and customers to deliver a seamless installation and commissioning of the Fire Alarm System. Responsible for installing fire alarm and fire suppression systems per NFPA guidelines.

    Responsibilities and Duties

    • Run various types and sizes of wire.
    • Install and bend conduit.
    • Install Fire Alarm devices and complete systems.
    • Responsible for programming systems via laptop computer.
    • Review system layouts with the Project Manager and Design Team for successful project execution.
    • Read and interpret vendor manuals, blueprints, and work orders to perform required installations.
    • Delivering projects on schedule and within cost budgets.
    • Use a variety of hand and power tools in performing installations.
    • Troubleshooting and repairing low voltage systems.
    • Responsible for maintaining all documentation and reports associated with daily work and project completion.
    • Evaluate customer sites for additional equipment and services that customers may require or that Kistler O'Brien Fire Protection provides.
    • Provide support, guidance, and expertise to other technicians.
    • Responsible for Programming, Commissioning, and performing the Final Acceptance Test for the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
    • Complete a detailed Record of Completion and Inspection Report in Accordance with NFPA.
    • Work in compliance with the company's safety manual.
    • Knowledge of the Fire Industry.
    • Knowledge of OSHA safety regulations.
    • Maintain company vehicles and equipment.
    • Ability to travel overnight as needed.
    • Ability to work off step ladders, Extension Ladders, and Lifts.
    • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

    Qualifications and Skills

    • High school diploma or GED.
    • Two to five years experience as a Fire Alarm Technician.
    • Knowledgeable in NFPA 72 Code Requirements.
    • Understanding of amps and electronics circuits.
    • Ability to use multi meter, troubleshoot and repair electronic devices.
    • Ability to read blueprints and design layouts.
    • Good communication skills both written and verbal.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Problem solving skills.
    • Team skills and Dependability.
