Volunteer and Food Drive Managers

We currently have two openings for the position of Volunteer and Food Drive Manager. One is based at our headquarters in Verona, VA, and the other is located in our Charlottesville, VA office. The Volunteer and Food Drive Managers will be responsible for managing a strong volunteer and food drive program, engaging interested individuals and organizations in the work of the Food Bank, helping to develop the program to further support the organization’s strategic goals. This person will perform this work maintaining the dignity, confidence, and safety of our volunteers/donors.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ability to think strategically regarding both volunteer and food drive programs to establish goals and tactics in support of overall BRAFB strategic goals.
- Develop, manage, and evaluate annual Volunteer and Food Drive budget and plan.
- Compile and evaluate annual metrics and qualitative feedback to improve program effectiveness and promote growth.
- Produce effective and persuasive volunteer communication and engagement: orientation, training, stewardship, recognition, surveys
- Work across departments to identify, recruit, manage, steward, and educate growing network of program and Specialized Volunteers.
Required job qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent amount of relevant training and experience required.
- Minimum 3-4 years’ experience in the areas of volunteer training, program development and/or planning and coordinating activities and events.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Comfort and ability to lead tours, orientations, and general public speaking.
- Ability to take initiative, be resourceful, and problem solve
- Ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member
- Ability to work effectively with diverse communities
- Computer skills utilizing Microsoft office products
- Experience using volunteer management databases, like Volunteer Hub, or other relational databases. Salesforce experience a plus.
- Ability to perform physical work to train and assist volunteers in performance of their duties
The Volunteer and Food Drive Manager roles are full-time positions, and the Food Bank offers an effective and healthy work culture, competitive salary, and excellent benefits.
One of these roles is based in the Verona headquarters, and the other in the Charlottesville, VA office; both openings report to the Director of Development & Community Engagement. Duties may require occasional work during evenings and on weekends. Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. Occasional driving and travel throughout the Food Bank service area is required.
