Golf Superintendent is responsible for overall maintenance and care of the golf course, including turf/grass management, irrigation, and chemical applications (e.g., fertilizer, pesticides) to ensure quality playing conditions. Oversees continued development of golf course during golf season to improve playing conditions and maintenance of course during off-season. Being a Golf Superintendent manage purchasing, replenishment, and inventory of all materials, supplies, and equipment used to maintain golf course. Liaises with the Head Golf Professional on any issues related to golf course operations and maintenance. Additionally, Golf Superintendent typically requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a golf course general manager. The Golf Superintendent manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Golf Course Superintendent: Greenbrier County, WV

Directly Manages: Maintenance staff
Working Hours: Full-time, year-around, not seasonal
DUTIES: The high density, private Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the maintenance, operations and management of the golf course, as well as performing the duties and continual improvements to the property. Responsibilities include equipment operations/maintenance, assigned Work Orders, general repairs and upkeep. Must be prompt, professional, organized and results-orientated.
· The mowing, watering and maintenance of tees, greens, fairways and related areas.
· The planting, fertilizing and maintenance of turf. Care and maintenance of ponds/fish/pumps and related infrastructure with 3rd party contractors. Assist the Property Manager in allocating resources and managing vendor contracts.
· The operation of the equipment/repair shop, provide construction & labor for repair and improvements- as assigned. Keep records of annual maintenance activities and create/revise written programs for site operations.
· Possess thorough knowledge of the construction and maintenance of golf course tees, fairways and greens. Possess thorough knowledge of the maintenance of the different types of turf used on golf courses, and the planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubs and trees.
· Possess thorough knowledge of the characteristics and proper use of various fertilizers and soil conditioners, herbicides and pest control methods and materials.
· Possess the ability to maintain tees, fairways, greens, and appurtenances to an acceptable standard of golf course play. Possess thorough knowledge of drainage control methods, watering and irrigation systems, including wells, pumps and automatic controls.
· Possess the ability to plan, assign, and direct the work of others. Possess the ability to prepare clear and concise reports. Possess the ability to prepare annual budget estimates.
· Other duties as assigned.
