Government Sales Manager manages and directs a sales force to achieve sales to government agencies. Designs and recommends sales programs and sets short- and long-term sales strategies. Being a Government Sales Manager evaluates and implements appropriate new sales techniques to increase the department's sales volume. May recommend product or service enhancements to improve customer satisfaction and sales potential. Additionally, Government Sales Manager ensures projects are completed on time and within budget. Acts as advisor to sales team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. May require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to head of a unit/department. The Government Sales Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Government Sales Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Purpose:  Responsible for New Business Development via prospecting, qualifying, selling, and closing Bergkamp Inc. equipment and products within the Government sector.

     Essential Functions                                                                                                                                    

    1. Performs direct sales of a full range of Bergkamp Inc. equipment to include prospecting, product presentations, quoting, negotiating, and closing business. 
    2. Provide a consultative solutions sales process to prospects.
    3. Manage client relationship through all phases of sales cycle.
    4. Responsible for client communications, conflict resolution, and compliance on sales deliverables and revenue.
    5. Develop and maintain prospect and customer list based on strategic marketing data and other sources for sales leads.
    6. Responsible for tracking customer information, forecasts, and reports.
    7. Ensures all processes and procedures are completed, quality standards are met, and projects achieve profit expectations.
    8. Presents company capabilities, services, products to individuals and groups in both informal and formal presentations during client meetings, sales calls, trade shows and industry events. 
    9. Identifies new markets within Territory.
    10. Gathers information for current bid opportunities. Prepares and submits responses to bid opportunities.
    11. Prepares recommended bid specifications for government agencies’ use.
    12. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.

    1. Associate degree or equivalent, plus a minimum of one to three years government sales experience or other related experience generally required. 
    2. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly communicate detailed information to customers, coworkers, and management.
    3. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to interact in a positive and professional manner to develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers, coworkers, and management.
    4. Overnight, domestic travel is required 50% of the time.
    5. Ability to read and interpret documents such as invoices, procedure manuals, blueprints (schematics), and job instructions.
    6. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. 
    7. Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
    8. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    9. Ability to operate computer and computer software, to include Microsoft Office products.
    10. Possess confidence and tenacity.
    11. Ability to use department equipment such as cell phone, computer, copy machine, and fax machine.
    12. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
